Well, lots of great responses, thanks guys I appreciate it. The weird part is, everyone who seemed to think I really don't know what the hell they were talking about just proceeded to say things that were condescending and that I already know. I guess you guys are reading too much into it. When I as...

Wow, not the responses I was expecting! I actually found the results of singers bringing in their own processor to be really good, and makes for a consistent sound in different venues. Hiring a sound guy, well that is really overkill unless you have the money to start adding people to your payroll....

On stage vocals, bring your own pre and compressor?

I've seen people bring stuff like the TC Helicon onto the stage to have total control of the vocals and not run into a bad sound guy issue. Would a better idea be to bring a killer mic pre and a compressor and a effects box or have you seen inventive performers out there doing something else?

I probably could have held out and found a cheaper one, but it was $500. The good part is it isn't banged up or scratched at all.

Just chiming in now that I have it sorted out...

So, got a Bryston 3b to power my NS-10M monitors. I absolutely love them and am listening to all my records with them.

What about a Bryston 3b? 100W per channel, is that a good match?

I just picked up a pair of NS-10s, because about 5 or more years ago I realized how people mix amazing records using these, and it really is the difference between doing it right and fast, and making the wrong decisions over and over and taking forever to arrive at a mix. Anyway, I need an amp for t...

What amp to power NS-10s?

I'm wondering if I have to find the expensive classics to mix with these speakers, or if somebody else has a great alternative to spending $1k or more on an amp?

Yeah, this first one is 35 years old. I'll take pics as soon as I get to the second one, a 1977 50W JMP.

sorry about the pics

My usual file storage site no longer exists, so I used a new one today, turns it blows cause you can't see my pics. Anybody recommend a free one that works, I'll upload them so they work. Thanks for the advice. I was convinced they need new filter caps, like you said, and that's when my buddy said t...

I don't get that. The link works for me. Anybody seeing pics? BTW, Matt Wells modded this amp for a Master Volume so I can actually play it, although he wished I didn't.

Maintenance for My Marshall Amp(s): w/pics for fanatics

In the last couple years these 2 70s amps started doing a crackling/ocean type sound if you stopped playing for a minute or so, and it would clear up after you started playing for the most part unless you were playing delicately and quietly. I ran this by a friend who deals with these amps and other...

NOMAD!

So I went with the Blue Tubes Bundle V3. Too bad for the price it is only RTAS and not TDM and RTAS, but still a good buy. The wealth of great effects is exciting, particularly the Chorus and flanger stuff.

Holy crap! This is amazing! Not, of course when a client expects me to fix chord structures in the 25th hour of a mix, but as a personal writing tool! Amazing!
