I've seen people bring stuff like the TC Helicon onto the stage to have total control of the vocals and not run into a bad sound guy issue. Would a better idea be to bring a killer mic pre and a compressor and a effects box or have you seen inventive performers out there doing something else?

I probably could have held out and found a cheaper one, but it was $500. The good part is it isn't banged up or scratched at all.

So I went with the Blue Tubes Bundle V3. Too bad for the price it is only RTAS and not TDM and RTAS, but still a good buy. The wealth of great effects is exciting, particularly the Chorus and flanger stuff.

Holy crap! This is amazing! Not, of course when a client expects me to fix chord structures in the 25th hour of a mix, but as a personal writing tool! Amazing!
