Danelectro Innuendo (weird sparkly proto-strat solidbody Dano with 4 surprisingly decent built-in effects). Minty... mostly in tune even.
$40 off Craigslist. I love the holiday season cause everybody needs cash.

I am by no means an expert on proper studio design, but basic construction skills (framing, insulation, drywall, etc.) ain't exactly rocket surgery. I've learned a lot of them by doing them as I've remodeled my house for the past 3+ years. If you're not on a rigid time schedule, round up some buddie...

I get them worst during mindless repetitive tasks. I mow about 3.5 acres with a 42" cut riding mower during the temperate months, and a lot of times I get one song stuck in my head for the whole ride (3.5 hours or so). It's either moderately pleasurable or completely torturous, depending on the song...

Sale on mega-cheap cans...
*These aren't mine, I have no interest or affiliation in this company or the website.*
Just a good deal I saw today on over-the-head cans. For $6.50 shipped, I'm picking up a few sets just to have spares around the studio.
Thought somebody might benefit from the link!

Hey Smitty, Careful with those calfskins. Try to keep them in a relatively temperature-regulated environment, or you could get a lot more "warm" snap, crackle, and pop than you might hope for... GJ Thanks for the tip! The one on top already has a small tear in it and is probably no good. The bottom...

1954 Rogers "Champion" branded snare. 6 floating lugs and two calfskin heads. $5 at a yard sale on the way back from church. Very excited as my only snares right now are modern metal ones and I've really been wanting something with an older, warmer sound. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8348/817604766...

I know this isn't exactly the point of this thread, but the whole time I was reading that in the magazine... all I could think was that TapeOp is one of the very very few magazines I would happily shell out for a subscription to. If it came down to "paying for TapeOp" or "not having TapeOp"... it wo...

Picked up a minty mid 60's Kay Vanguard tonight (not my pic but the same guitar). http://silvertoneguitar.net/files/2010/10/-48283304866646640.jpg What started as a search for a cheapo neck to finish a home build guitar has quickly morphed into what's becoming a pretty solid collection of funky 60's...

Interesting. Hows it sound? No idea yet. Just got it in the mail yesterday. Between my day job and all the non-musical farm projects in the works at the moment, I'm lucky to get one solid block of time a month to lock in and work on music stuff. Hoping to be able to devote some solid blocks of time...

Re: Where to draw the line
But if no value is put on your time or effort, it sounds like they're going to treat you like your time and effort has no value. Exactly this. This is a very hard lesson I myself learned the hard way in my capacity as a graphic designer. I've lost friends over a very similar themed kerfuffle when I...

Awesome! I have a 3 pick-up version of that that I set-up as a baritone (tuned B-B). It just got used all over a Link Wray style instrumental guitar record I produced a few weeks ago. That's exactly how I want to set this one up. I nearly jumped with joy when I found this thing, I've been secretly ...
