The guitar sound in "At Least That's What You Said" was one of Tweedy's LesPauls throught a Silvertone 1472 ( http://personalpages.tds.net/~jonarthr/ ... nerest.htm). I forgot where I read that but, there is a picture od a 1472 at sear sound in the wilco book.

simple but anyway: Apple g (or i guess ctrl?? g on pc) for grouping tracks. Shift apple N for new track, apple and arrows to move to diffrent tracks so you can name them without clicking on each one

Heat up that same coffe can on the burner of your stove, then burn the hole in the head. much easier and will leave you with a cleaner "cut"

If you record a section of the drums and zoom in on the waveforms you can check and see if everything is in phase. I guess some would consider it cheating but its a good way to double check.

To rely on just OVH's or just room mics only makes sense to me if the drummer is really really good. They could get away with recording Bonham with so few mics because he played the drums as a musican;balancing the kit when he was playing. It dosen't work for most drummers though in my experience.
