The guitar sound in "At Least That's What You Said" was one of Tweedy's LesPauls throught a Silvertone 1472 ( http://personalpages.tds.net/~jonarthr/ ... nerest.htm). I forgot where I read that but, there is a picture od a 1472 at sear sound in the wilco book.

To rely on just OVH's or just room mics only makes sense to me if the drummer is really really good. They could get away with recording Bonham with so few mics because he played the drums as a musican;balancing the kit when he was playing. It dosen't work for most drummers though in my experience. I think a big part of the gear aspect is what happens before the microphone. If your talking about 60's drum sounds I think a huge part of the sound is in the drum heads and tunning.
