I'm releasing one track at a time (as I finish them), and just uploaded the second song from my current album. Check it out..... http://paperboat.bandcamp.com/track/your-next-move I like being able to work at my own pace, no "release dates" looming overhead. This album has taken me 6 years so far. I...

Just a thought, make sure you don't have phantom power on. I know some tube mics will sizzle and snap when the power is on, and you may be confusing that with RFI.

You can have a switch on the end of a cable, in fact you can make it in parallel with the original switch, so they both work, in case you lose your cable or it breaks during the show. Switchcraft makes a cable with a built in switch, like those used in a hospital bed (to signal a nurse, or that a pr...

I generally use my same color set for instruments. I haven't heard of a single, universally accepted code however. It's up to you to color your instrument tracks as you see / hear them. I like to make guitars orange, because they are grindy, hot, loud things. I make bass a deep purple, vocals light ...

These are the records that I have been using lately (I record and mix a lot of rock & heavy music) in no order: Metallica's black album ie. "And Nothing Else Matters" (for really pushed top and bottom and dynamic power) Weezer's Make Believe ie. "The Damage in Your Heart" (great snare sound and over...

Snarl 12/8, Focusrite makes the LiquidMix, not Presonus. I think this all boils down to this question: why does mac include one single firewire port on its new computers? My M-audio lightbridge needs its own bus also, so I have a PCI card. Now I'm using the Lynx Aurora with the firewirs option, so I...

As far as firewire goes, I know my Liquid mix (firewire 400) won't share a bus with any other firewire device, so I doubt the UAD will. But don't iMacs have 400 and 800 ports on the back? The UAD has both, so maybe you can chain more devices on the 800 than the 400.

Ha. Congrats! That is a great accomplishment. Now you won't have to shell out huge amounts of bucks for commercially available cables. Keep it up!
