I would consider the Sennheiser MD441. Great for horns and saxes and you can usually find them on eBay in the $300-$400 range. You'll enjoy using it on other stuff as well.

Regarding the Pathfinder.....
Does anyone know where to get these for $79? I know a while back musicians's friend was supposed to have them for that price but I can't find it at that price. Also, does the vox cambridge compare to the pathfinder? I could get a cambridge for $80 used.
