Got scope? You'll need one. The LM6171 as mentioned in the original post is a 100 mhz part. When stable it sounds good but is a bit noisy. Ah, sorry Jim, didn't catch that the 100MHz figure was a reference to the IC named in the original post. I do in fact have a scope. Would I see these types of t...

TLE's are not drop in replacements. They are an improved design, but have much greater bandwidth and different phase margins. In order to successfully install a 100 mhz bandwidth part in a sloppy 2 mhz bandwidth design, you are going to have some issues. The datasheet I'm looking at for TLE2071's s...

The studio at my college had that same style, I think. Was it sized such that you could jam a standard 1/4" cable in there, but you could tell that the connectors inside weren't happy about it?

This is probably not what you are looking for but couldn't you record a track of you clicking a pair of drum sticks instead of tapping and then use Beat Detective on that? Nothing but transients and you have "tapped" it in. You could probably do the same thing with midi. Just record midi notes from...

Oh yeah, using Beat Detective to generate bar/beat markers would make a lot of sense! My brain kind of skipped over that as an option. However, in the particular track I was working with, there were no drums, and several sections where the music was "floaty"... so probably not enough transient defin...

How to make tempo map by tapping tempo?

It should be a fairly straightforward operation: you have audio that was recorded without a click. Now, you're mixing, and for whatever reasons you'd like to map out the tempo changes in the song. Ideally, you could tap out quarter notes as the song plays back, and the DAW would write a tempo map fo...

Free mic capsule for rewind

hey folks, I've got a Turner Dynamic 211 with a dead mic capsule. I've removed the capsule and tested it, and it's measuring open on the ohmmeter. If anyone would like it, for practicing their capsule repair skills on, I'd be happy to drop it in the mail to you. Write me at howdy@leighmarble.com che...

Bump - this box of egg crates is still available. Doing some pre-holiday cleaning, and they are going into recycling if I don't find a taker soon! A box of 90 cardboard egg crates, each one is one foot square. (The author of this message makes no claim as to the efficacy of said egg crates for sound...

Here's an EP of spooky songs that my hip-hop band The Buttery Lords put out last Halloween. I did the production and mixing, and it was mastered by TOMB's own MoreSpaceEcho (aka Scott Craggs at Old Colony Mastering )! http://f0.bcbits.com/z/24/79/2479748456-1.jpg Buttery Lords - Monsters & Madness T...

I did a remix of the song "Jackrabbit", using an approach I'd never tried before. Hear the remixed track here: "Jackrabbit Cruise Ship Remix" My approach to this remix was to loop 8 bars of the song's chorus, and shape a new piece by bringing the different layers in and out. The elements got new son...

The Ableton Live idea might work, but would I be able to manually go through each note of the sequence, including breaks, with each press of a single foot switch? I am for. sure. not coordinated enough to use a like, moog taurus midi style doohickey. Definitely you could make this happen in Max For...
