That won't work but any passive woofer will work. Pawn shops, garage sales and even thrift stores always have old subs or cheap house speakers. I love experimenting with little projects like that. Worst case scenario is you record that track and don't end up using it. Just keep it in phase with your...

This record was done in my drummer's house. It was a lot of work but a lot of fun and done with what we had lying around and a VERY small budget. A few details for anyone who is interested: We used my iMac with Logic Express. The interface is the MOTU 896HD. It is clocked by the "White Sparrow" from...

Hey, here's my first "real" recording in a long time. It's the single from our new EP called "Miles Behind". Feel free to critique and let me know what you think!

I used tracktion back in the day and considered it for my recent project but decided to stick with logic. But I really love how tracktion works. I really hate editing clips and tracktion is the easiest I've seen to scrub, fade in/out. Also I LOVE how each clip in a section has it's own gain and can ...

Airwindows plugs

I grabbed the Console2 plug and my drummer and I sat down and went through a/b's with it very carefully and decided it was awesome. I don't get how it works, but it seems to change everything spatially. I was wondering if anyone else uses these plug ins and if you guys have any creative ideas with t...

New Band!

So I'm in a band after about 9 years of being solo. It's called Bueller. We are just finishing up this little EP and I would love some help! Everything was recorded in a house with Logic. I use the Black Lion White Sparrow for A/D and the MOTU 896 for to interface (sparrow clocks it) Soundcloud dest...

My first purchase in the recording world (that is, first devise I bought that was specifically for recording) was a Yamaha MD8. I'm not sure I'll have that much fun ever again recording music. Of course I may never be that frustrated again either. I loved that thing. Wish I could hear those tracks n...

Regardless of make or model, assuming both decks are in equally decent shape, I'd choose the one with variable bias settings, if either of them offers you the ability to adjust. Bias settings will vary from deck to deck, and especially in the case of (thin and narrow) cassette tape, will RADICALLY ...

First project with the Black Lion "Sparrow"

This chick's pretty cool. I have been recording her in my apartment with the new Black Lion "Sparrow" Mk ll. The pre's are the Neve portico 5012 and the TwinFinity. Let me know what you guys think of the recording. Mix is rough. "Rhythms Like the Jones" https://soundcloud.com/istramike/rythms-mix1 "...

I confess to no actual idear, but they should be probably about the same; they will have the same track width (4-track uses the A & B sides in one direction). But I gotta ask, why such nice pre's into such (arguably) inferior recorders? 'Cause I've never done it before... to see what it sounds like...

Hi Fi deck for recording...

My question is: what kind of difference in sound quality could I expect to hear between a 4 track like a Portastudio and an older (quality) Hi-Fi cassette deck. I will be using the TwinFinity and Neve Portico 5012 pre's.

I have to say... I might go back to traktion. I did one record with it and it was probably the best I have done for my own music. I don't remember anything I didn't like about it. Logic on the other hand....
