Full Size Line Mixer?
I have gone and rented a studio space again. The one thing I do not have for setting up my studio (again) is a mixer. It seems kind of silly to buy a mixer with preamps when I have almost a dozen outboard pres. Any good line input only full size mixers? (of course when I say full size I mean small t...

You could bookmark a search on eBay / craigslist for Yamaha p2200/p2201 amplifiers. I think they were part of the series the NS-10's were in. The ones they have up on ebay now are pricey, but once in a while they show up around $100-$200 when someone pulls them out of the attic. That's what I use &...

Sweet. And glad I'm not the only one who prefers passive elec's ... Actually I own 3 active Musicman basses already. I was hoping it was passive (the ad said it was). I wanted to see if a passive Musicman sounded better with overdrive/fuzz. It can't be impossible to pacify one, can it? Of course no...

Speaking as a fellow ADHD diagnosee, a lot of people say "ADHD" or "Dyslexia" when they really mean they are just absent minded or dumb. It's to the point where folks blow off any mention of ADHD as someone that doenst have their shit together. So I can see where Joel's comments came from. But yes A...

Picked up a Musicman SUB bass for $280 on craigslist. Luckily I scored a black one (I'm not a fan of the other two colors) and it's in mint condition aside from a slightly dried out fretboard. Unfortunately it isn't one of the passive models. Ended up working through the weekend so I haven't had tim...

the PM1000 may be worth some money to part out. OTOH they weigh an effing ton and are huge. PLus after you gut them you have about 100lbs of wood and metal to dispose of, which doesnt fit into the curbside recyling bins too easy. $500 seem to be the average price a 16-er goes for. Mine was about $35...

I got one of those mics along with an old tube "portable" reel to reel. The tape recorder part of it was pretty awful, but it had a nice preamp and power amp. Magnificent on guitar. I still have the mic. The 1/4" jack is non standard. Too big to fit regular jacks. I hacked it off and put a regular o...

The best reverb I ever heard was a large, very asymetrical room with a mic up close on the amp, and another mic about as far away as possible. Hardware verbs can't imitate the molecular detail a reverb like that has. Though to be fair, you would have to have a studio in a grain silo to imitate the c...
