i think solid state vs tube gets the same 'reputation' as digital vs analog.. it's all about how you use them. I don't think anyone should look at an amp, see that it's solid state, and make a judgment call that it's not going to cut it. I've recorded excellent tracks from solid state amps.. I was a...

i'm glad people are talking about breaking sticks.. i do it often.. usually one or two per practice/session. I'm using Vic Firth 5A (feel more comfy than the larger, clunkier 5B I was on for awhile). I always assumed breaking these sticks had a lot to do with incorrect playing, striking cymbals at t...

kick drum sound

i love the D112... but it never cut the mustard by itself. I found having the resonant head off of the kick drum gave it more thud, but sounded less like an actual bass drum. a lot of it is drum tuning too.. a lot of drummers don't think about tuning the resonant head on the kick--a shame! if a hole...

Bothering the seller? are you kidding me? eBay feedback is a great tool, but really, you're buying something more or less untested and unseen by you. If you can't handle a bunch of questions about pro-gear you're selling, then take your stuff to a pawn shop or scam ash. If you're checking serial num...

slamming a chord on the guitar and then tweaking the settings is amazing. great for live shows.

i have this problem when I bring an MP3 into Final Cut Pro that I streamed using the LAME encoder -- it sounds great everywhere, but in final cut there are some blips and blops, I wonder if it has to do with sampling rates.. they were in 41k and i think video is usually 48.. but i think FCP compensa...

Thanks

balancing studio monitors

have a pair of m-audio monitors for reference monitors, but the manuals don't explain how to test your setup to see if the speakers are placed/balanced right. with the monitors on the same setting and volume levels, I swear I can hear one is louder than the other. any recommendations? are reference ...

Can't find it on the radioshack site... heard things about Crown selling them, but they look 'spensive! Anywhere or anyone have the cheapo ones lying around?
