old 4 track
are you looking for an old cassette 4 track or an open reel four track? I had an old Tascam 424 (cassette) that I used to loan out to friends and I'm pretty sure its in a closet somewhere. I'm out of town at the moment but when I get home I'll look around for it...if you are still looking for one. -...

adat & timecode
A friend of a friend has asked me to transfer some of his old ADATs to BWFs. The tracks exist across 9 ADATs as they were originally tracked in a 24 track ADAT studio. The problem: I only have one functional ADAT and it has only been used as a back-up recorder when recording live. My question: Will ...

Chad,
I have a 16ch. pm-1000 that I have been thinking about parting out. If you are interested in some of the channel strips PM me.
Thanks,

re-using pm-1000 channel strips
The board is a bit on the HUGE side but lately I have only been using about 4 of the channels for tracking drums and I have been using my topaz for other tracking/mixing. I guess I was just trying to find a use for the frame after I sell off some of the channel strips. That and if I could get around...

re-using pm-1000 modules
So I have a 16 channel Yamaha PM-1000 and I have been thinking about selling off 12 of the channels and keeping 4 for myself. It seems like most people end up chopping these things up to rack them so...I'm wondering is it possible to use the frames of the modules and the mating connectors on the mod...

Figure of eight ribbon microphones exhibit hugh amounts of proximity effect...think "the X Files will return in a moment" but aren't Fig. 8 mics essentially two cardioid capsules facing away from one another? for example, are they not 180 degrees out of phase with respect to one another? I don't ow...

suggestions on budget gear
You might want to look into some used MOTU converters. (Although I'm not sure if you could use them with the freeware.) They are good and can be found for reasonable prices. You could go with the one of PCI versions (2408 or 1224), USB (?), or I think they make some (828mkii?) with firewire. It look...

re: where i buy gear
I've picked up a lot of great gear from the TOMB. A consloe, reverbs, pre's, cables you name it. I also try to pick up gear, whenever I can, from local independent music stores. Ebay comes in dead last but I have still picked up a few pieces of gear here and there. There seems to be a proliferation ...

Need help/advice tuning a rhodes myself?
Sorry I can't offer any tuning info but a while back when I was restoring my Wurlitzer 200 I came across these guys: http://www.vintagevibe.com/ They appear to have the materials required for re-felting. However, I haven't ever done any business with them but their prices seem reasonable and might b...

Re: Simple Question.
So this doesn't deal with ELCO connections but I have found it to be a wonderful resource when making up cables.
Just thought I'd throw it out for those who haven't come across it yet.

schools with good recording programs...
Professor really nailed the ins and outs of this. I might only suggest that if you pursue this as a scholastic endeavor to try and go to a school and get a degree in electrical engineering (or something else closely related) and a minor or a focus in audio. I know you said west of the Miss. but the ...
