Re: PC exports needed for upgrade quest
If you're building, don't skimp on the case. I got this one and it's amazing: https://www.bequiet.com/en/case/1203 It's super quiet and has a switch so you can force the fans to a low speed when you need it extra quiet for recording. Also super sturdy, easy to get inside for maintenance and cleaning...

Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....
Picked up a pair of Neumann NDH20 headphones because I have some sessions coming up where I won't have a dedicated control room for monitoring, and my current reference pair are open-backed (ath-r70x... amazing). I don't know if there is something wrong with them or what, but man, they do not sound...

Re: Logic Pro X on MacBook Pro to Facebook Live stream
Like others have said, Audiomovers or Soundflower (or Voicemeeter, etc.) should do the trick. But I'll add this - is it necessary to go through Logic? Do you rely on playback or plugins you can only do in a DAW, or could you just take the signal straight from the interface? Seems like that could str...

Re: audiophile iPhone adapter? Mine suck
I don't have a recommendation, but I'm just curious - how does the quality of an adapter affect the stereo image?

Re: DIY DI full range guitar questions
BUT: where to take the clean sound? a) straight from the instrument b) after my dirt and pitch pedals but before the H9s so I can calibrate the sounds of the reverbs and delays in the actual recording c) after the H9s (see below) but before the amp sim? Can you do both? You might like the dirty sou...

Re: Not Really Recording Related but.....
TRUE STORY: Back at my old loft in Boston, my upstairs neighbor was the drummer for Blue Man Group AND he was very short. I have three or four friends who've played with BMG in various cities. They're all total badasses, too. One of them is pretty tall. Chris Garges Charlotte, NC It blew my...

Re: Not Really Recording Related but.....
I grabbed this from some documentary video on Netflix once... drums.jpg Holy hell. That’s one of the worst I’ve seen. Really can't blame the producers for tilting the cymbals to get that awesome lighting. It's like us putting a phaser on a vocal. Of course that's not how it sounds/looks, but isn't ...

Re: Isolating Vocals when Recording with DI Electric Guitar
-Place some mass between your head and the guitar, like a piece of wood. If all else fails, use RX! Any suggestion on how to prop up the barrier? I've tried RX (I only have Elements tho). I use Click, and start with the Random Clicking preset. I first turn sensitivity up to around 8. If it's really...

Re: Isolating Vocals when Recording with DI Electric Guitar
A few things to try:
-Dynamic mic super close to your face
-Narrow-pattern mic with the null pointed at the guitar
-Use a transient shaper plugin to reduce pick attack
-Place some mass between your head and the guitar, like a piece of wood.
If all else fails, use RX!

Re: Go-to plug-ins for adding gain
Good ol' clip gain usually does the trick. I think in Reaper it can only add 24dB, but that's usually enough.

Re: Anybody bought anything from "Audiosavings"?
They have an "about us" that apparently isn't linked from the homepage: https://www.audiosavings.com/about-us/ And it's still pretty cagey. No address, no area code. Google autocompleted "Is Audiosavings legit?" They're also apparently on ebay, with a 98.4% positive over 700k transactions. Yeah, th...

Those Antelope and UA plugins don't have delay compensation?

I think it's hilarious that a thread called "Recording Trends/Techniques that drive you nuts" has become a Mutt Lange thread.

That sounds like a wonderful session and I hope you get a production credit on that song!
