A good rule of thumb is to use that transformer to power a similar set of tubes, You don't know the specific current capacity, but you can assume that if the donor amp ran a pair of 6L6's, that that power transformer would work best driving a pair of 6L6's or similar, certainly not two pairs of 6L6'...

The simple version is still that too heavy a load (4 ohms driving 2 ohms, etc) looks more like a short; 2 year old sticking a fork in the wall socket. All depends on how much current (powe output) we're talking about. But a short is much friendlier than an open circuit to a tube amp, or so I have r...

I think it's a false dichotomy. There is no reason we have to settle on a single format, as long as people want something, it'll be sold to them. Records are still being pressed for the real audio/album lovers out there who don't care about convenience because they want to listen in their homes on t...

As I understand it, the circuit is designed so that when the signal swings one way, there is extremely high current and zero voltage and at the other end of the swing, voltage is at its max. and current is null. So running into too high or too low a load offsets the operating point of the tube(s) an...

OK, here's my recipe: Burry Toes: Rice: Bring 2 cups of water to a boil, add 1 cup of brown rice and 2 or 3 cloves of garlic, maybe a couple pieces of chopped jalapeno, cover and simmer for 45 minutes. Beans: While that is cooking, peel and slice up a thumb-sized lump of fresh ginger and 3 or 4 clov...

Good evening all, Had a weird thing happen a couple times. I just came home and put on an LP I picked up after dinner. A couple minutes into it, I thought "Wow, that's some avant garde pedal point on the organ!" Soon I realized that the sustained low note I was hearing was drowning out the music. I ...

Looks like that Bassman has a 4 ohm output while the Super has a 2 ohm output. It should work in a pinch, but I would not recommend it as a full-time setup. But I might be wrong, you might want to double check the models here http://www.ampwares.com/ffg/ My personal opinion - why not just use the Su...

Then there was the whole SG debacle, where they changed the body style without asking him so he had them take his name off the guitars. He also wanted to wait for his divorce to go through before he garnered any more profits through Gibson! ...I remember being 14 years old and seeing a "Les Paul Cu...
