Re: so what would you recommend?
a different mic pre or other technique for recording clarinet? I like the clarinet breakdown when you can hear the PFFF PFF PFFFF PFFF PFFF before each note. Nice work. you probably need to work on your embouchure: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Embouchure That blowing sound before notes can be used ...

Wow, what a strange looking unit. It has a tape-loop? for slap-back echo maybe? I did a quick search and found an Italian company called FBT with a similar logo. Here is a speakers page. Maybe you can get a matching set. I wonder if the company has manuals online: http://fbt.it/intranet/Inglese/pae/...

Maybe it would be more helpful to frame the unspoken debate going on here in terms of another well-know and equally obnoxious "brand tiff": Ford vs Chevy. Why not put a logo of Calvin pissing on the Mac/Windows logo somewhere in the control room? In any case, I'm not sure of the value of saying I h...

Yo. What about having to replace all of your plugins? Have you factored in that cost? The only plugins I have now are for my Powercore card and they have versions for either platform (and no pesky issues about changing from machine to machine since it's all about the card.) I also use the Fish Fill...

I'd get that one, plus another more scary screen that was just black with white text scrolled down it, like a DOS screen. "Kernal Panic ... " sprinkled here and there. And then there were the times when the cursor froze and the keyboard was useless. Whoever says Macs never crash just aren't trying h...

Thanks Superaction80! Your post reminded me that I didn't run a hardware check on the machine. It's a CD that comes with the computer. I put that puppy in and ran it and sure enough, there's an error on the logic board. So now I know for sure it's a hardware problem and it's probably been there sinc...

Randy, I haven't had any problems w/my G5 1.8 since I got it,3 or 4 years.Personally, I think misery likes company and have many friends with PC problems.I will be getting a Mac Pro as soon as PTLE is qualified for Leopard.I like to record music, not screw around with my computer. So I stay with my...

Right now it's getting to the point of either I get a PC or I don't record. I can't drop $3000 on a machine and another $1000 on card upgrades to stick with a Mac. I have also found out that the PC motherboards being made no longer support 5v PCI cards, so unless I can find a motherboard that suppor...
