Well, the distributor is in Aalen, Germany. But Oktava mics are made in Tula, Russia.

As promised, here's my take on the CAD CM217 mic. Yes indeed. You can get two of them for $50. The each come packed in a little box inserted into their mic stand clip. They are electret condenser mics and use the common Panasonic-type cardioid capsules. They have a bass roll-off and 10dB pad. Sound?...

I've always wondered if the CAD CM217 is an electret condenser (fairly high noise floor) or if it is a true, externally polarized condenser. I just ordered a couple and will report back.

The finish feels like smooth epoxy paint to the hand, but the body is aluminum. I've got a back of aluminum sweepings from doing a bunch of these on my milling machine.

Now the NT1000...talk about heavy mic made out of thick brass!

The NT1 mics I've done have aluminum bodies. The results look like the NT1a mod here.
