Re: The Mix our Song Contest

Could one of you guys post or pm me the song's chord progression? I don't have a lot of free time this week and I want to be able to jump right in when I download it. I'm thinking... gongs, children's choir, sitars, DX-7.

Re: Satanic Panic in the Attic

They've been one of my favourite bands since Gay Parade. Yeah, some of it's definitely too twee for me but I can usually overlook it for the fantastic songwriting. You should check out Aldhil's Arboretum as well, it's similarly unsilly (for them at least). Last I heard, they do everything on 1" 16-t...

Re: The Haunted Ghost

Gosh, you all are too kind. I have to give credit to pillowcases on the snare and floor tom and my wallet on the high tom.

Re: The Haunted Ghost

Bees-- no need to apologize! And thanks! This was just a fun throwaway anyhoo, my real band doesn't sound like this. It's the first time I've used like, a "guitar riff" in a song. I'm on to the next HG thing, which started as disco/boogie but it ended up more Elvis Costello/reggae. Weird.

Re: The Haunted Ghost

TapeOp fellows: thanks! For the fuzz, I used the rarely-spoken-of Boss just "Fuzz" pedal. For good fuzz, there's the Big Muff; for bad fuzz, Boss. It sounds terrible, in a good way. I think the band is going to do a proper version of the Plateau sort of soonish Joe. I'll let you know when it's done ...

I am gravely offended. Please accept my withdrawal from the "Mix My Emo Song 20004" contest.

Actually, I think I'm gonna attempt to download the full wavs for it.

Also, hey Robert-DJ, I can offer you some additional bonus drum tracks if you please. PM me 'n' stuff.

Re: Your feelings on a mix-our-song contest?

I would be super into it, and I even have DIAL-UP internet. I'm not so good at 'mixing' per se, but I get sweet maraca sounds.

The Haunted Ghost

So, I decided to create a new band as an excuse to write sucky songs with fuzz guitar. Here's the first attempt, written and recorded in a very-very-fast-for-me three days.

One Can Tell

Thanks for listening, and sorry about that guitar solo.

Re: Steely Dan

I acquired my dad's greatest hits record some time ago and I got into 'em. They even wield an occasional influence on my band, which is sort of mid-fi indie pop. Anyhoo, I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with the 70s studio sheen SD championed-- it's just another kind of sound. I can s...

Ditto. Drums are my favourite instrument, though. I hardly know anyone that JUST plays drums-- most everyone who has drummed in my band also sings and plays guitar in their own band too.

Re: Wing's drum & music world tour

Whenever I go to a different city, I'm always shocked that there aren't 93 cent (and whoa, 87 cent) pizza places everywhere. It's weird. However, I haven't been to many cities-- there's still hope.

Wing, come to Vancouver, home of affordable pizza slices.
