Soundsoap Sound Soap is the most affordable solution and the results can be fantastic. Bias, the company that produces SoundSoap, makes very stable and easy to use products (like PEAK). I recently used SoundSoap to remaster an old french tape for my college. The voice on the cassett was almost inau...

Intel Mac and Digital Performer
I just ordered the 17" Mac Book Pro and I'm wondering if anyone has tried to use DP on an intel mac yet?
Any success or am I doomed to wait for a Universal version? I know I could switch to logic, but frankly I love Digital Performer and I'd hate to give it up.

I'm going to be doing a TapeOp review of this thing soon...Belkin is supposed to be sending me a review unit this month. Stay tuned. Awesome! ...

MOTU 2408 (origional) PCI 342 system, Anyone interested?
Hey, I'm thinkin about selling my MOTU 2408. It works great, except the headphone volume control is a bit worn out and takes some tweaking, but its never bugged me. Its 8 in 8 out with support for ADATs and such. Its a PCI system, so you'll need a tower (NOT A G5, because the card won't work in its ...

The Sennheiser HD-202s are the headphones they sell in that 5 pack. Nice circumaural, sealed-back, and cheap headphones that have received a lot of discussion 'round these parts. It's OK that you are linking people in to the Musician's Friend site, but I probably still wouldn't quote their discount...

Broadcast Supply Worldwide in Tacoma is the home of the 5 for $89 Sennheiser headphones and other such delightful package deals. The also have cute little 'package' systems that include a few mics, cables, mixer, recorder, etc. assembled for different purposes and budgets. Don't get me wrong, I sup...

Take a look at Larry's end rant from that last TapeOp because that is really what you are most likely to leave out of the budget, and what always gets left out of the budget. Sure it's fun to sit with a catalog and say, 'what would I buy with $1000' but if somebody sees the article and gets all exc...

Complete studio for $1000 to $2000
I'm writing an article about how to build a small home studio/portable studio on a budget (<$1000 to no greater then $2000). Essentially I'm looking for a mix of a recording medium (digital or analogue), mic pre-amps, audio interface (for a computer setup), microphones and monitors. As far as comput...

So I just watched that video again and I have to say, I didn't see one piece of sound treatment in that room or the room they have the board and monitors set up in and the record sounds great!! In fact I see all kinds of reflective surfaces, windows, mirrors, pictures in frames. Hell the 'control r...

In general, the best thing you can do is go shopping! Play as many as you can get your hands on and pick the one that feels best. Some of the worst instruments i've seen people purchase have been due to "recommendations" that they then went and bought online. Each instrument is different. So many th...

As far as bang for your buck, I'd go with the FirePod. Plays nice with the mac (course, they all do) and I've heard good things about the Mic Pre-amps. plus, you can get it for 519 at Zzsounds.com i think...or it might have been 123music.com At the least, that's the interface i'm gonna buy when i ha...
