Topic: building an amp vault vs. modeling program

In this situation I'd go with a modeler. I've tried the diy iso box (amp in a closet with a bunch of blankets) in the past and it was a royal PITA to set up and didn't sound that great. One huge advantage of the modeler IMO is the convenience factor of plugging in and hitting record while your inspi...

That's how I often feel.
I think that was Sting.

You might also want to make sure your guitar cables are in excellent condition and use the shortest length possible. They are basically antenna's for all the RF crap floating around in the air. Distortion boxes can cause problems too.

I check in once a day and the average number of posts for the last several months has been ~300 per day. Its been lower lately and has gone WAY down from a few years ago.

I have nothing to do with this, just stumbled across the ad on craigslist and passing it along.

Getting an SM7B and doing vocals in the control room has helped me a lot. Quick setup, don't have to run back and forth to the computer all the time, and I just feel more relaxed. Loop record is cool, too.

I bought a refurb Central Station from MF for ~$350. Dunno about the 002 D/A but it made a HUGE difference with my 001.

You have bbeen storing it in the attic? If it's an uninsulated attic with wide variations in temp store your gear somewhere lese A basic rule of thumb is never leave your gear anywhere YOU wouldn't feel comfortable being (too hot/cold/damp/dry...) The attic floor has insulation, the roof doesn't. I...

Thanks Brad, I've never heard of that. There are probably a couple shops around town that could do it.

Finish is cracking/flaking on my guitars headstock!

I brought my '97 Gibby Les Paul Special down from the attic today and found this: http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c242/rolandk/LPS1.jpg Its been flaking around the logo for a few years but now its much worse. It appears to be a thin coat of clear laquer (or similar) that seperated from the wood. I...

Have they been dressed before? If not, thats probably all they need. I had my strat done a year or two ago and I believe it was $160-ish for a refret and setup. There must be some reputable shops in SF, have them take a look and write up an estimate. If you haven't been there already, check out http...

I have a set of Fender CS 60's Jazz in my American Standard and like them a lot. A bit more low end and punch than vintage pups. They are quiet if both volumes are up all the way.
