If the pups are bad, I'll second the recommendation for Guitar Fetish. They have some pups that fit that guitar (I think), surface mount "DeArmond" style: http://stores.ebay.com/Guitarfetish-Store_Pickups-Dearmond-Style_W0QQcolZ2QQdirZQ2d1QQfsubZ2QQftidZ2QQtZkm I've bought from him/them more than o...

Well hey.. I took advice from here and sent my NT1 back to Rode.. What a classy company.. they fixed it and sent it back to me at no charge. I told them I did not buy the mic new,, the guy told me it didn't matter. It wasn't abused so they fixed... needed a new capsule. It's policies like that that ...

Rode NT1 not feeling well

My Rode NT1 seems to have problems handling any high SPL. Really anything more than a quiet singing voice will make it "flutter" for lack of a better word. It almost sounds like it's peaking but not quite so high pitched, more of a low flutter that makes everything mic-ed with it unusable. Any ideas...

Re: organs

You can usually find a Hammond M3 for a reasonable price if not free. The M3 is the home version of a B3 for lack of better terminology. If your handy with a schematic and a soldering iron you can even do a foldback on it to make it even closer to a real B3, but with less range. The M3 has a built i...

There are few days that I learn a new word, even fewer that I learn a few insults. Today is a good day. I haven't laughed that hard all week. But on topic, I'm going through a bunch of stuff too.. just too many things left over from the old band or younger days.. just sitting collecting dust. I'm no...

Great topic.. one my wife always reminds me of when I decide to sell something.. she says I always regret it later.. "Always" may not be correct, but in the beginning I made a LOT of mistakes selling things. Now I make purchases and sell things more slowly. '67 Fender Twin, my first amp '85 Gibson E...

Yeah,, well it's that kind of thinking that led to the "junk room".. stuff I planned to do something with later.. I have too many speakers and guitar parts, pickups..,, Hammond organ/Leslie parts,, crap laying everywhere. Stuff I just am not going to anything with. I can separate most of the crap fr...

Speaker Help

I need some help/.. I'm cleaning up my junk room and preparing to get rid of a bunch of crap and I came across something I got years ago and never did anything with. Some Wharfedale speakers from the mid 60's. 12" 8" and some tweeters and crossovers. At one time someone told me that people liked the...

T Wanted to trade

I have a few things I no longer use and would like to trade for other things. I'm mostly looking for some pencil type condenser mics for recording acoustic instruments, something like a pair of Samson CO2's or similar, nothing too expensive. I'm open to other trades too and have pictures upon reques...

I recently used one of my pl95's for a snare mic,, had a nice sound to it. Not really standard, but nice. I have two of them and they sound very different from each other, one is muddier, maybe something is wrong with it.? Not an OLD EV, but I have a PL95. I dont like it, and think it sounds kinda l...

I meant nothing against Goff,, or organtec.. both fantastic people and service.. their reputations are first rate and deserved.

I just happen to know Stoel and he usually has 3-5 Hammonds sitting around for parts..

Here's a site that reviewed some 12ax7 tubes in different areas: http://www.thetubestore.com/12ax7review.html and some el84's http://thetubestore.com/el84review.html I also bought some JJ's from these guys and was real happy. Always been happy with JJ's, never had good luck with Ruby Tubes. YMMV
