Got an iPhone a couple of months ago and this was the first place I went to look for some musical uses. My favorites thus far: Jasuto: a modular synth app with a new paradigm, great for sampling, sequencing, importing audio, looping, so fun. My #1. Please check out his youtube vids. http://www.jasut...

I've seen Nels more than a few times, he plays in SF quite often, I think his drummer lives in the Bay Area. I have also found inspiration in the way Nels played his 16 sec delay and have adopted a method of using my 2880 to approximate his shtick. I randomly record a loop of any length on track one...

Get a ZVex SHO or equivalent in the front end +1 I forgot about this part! Essential w/ so many pedals. I have an EP Booster by Xotic. Aces. Also I personally wouldn't mind a buffered pedal at the end of the chain, like the Malekko in buff mode. I had a analogman delay that was buffered at the end ...

The pedal you want to interact with your guitar's volume has to go first. Anywhere else and you'll lose that. Most often people put distortions/fuzzes first then time dependent stuff (flangers, chorus, phaser) followed by delays then reverbs. But whatever sounds good is good. there's no right or wro...

I know that ARP in San Jose and the guy selling it. He's a great guy and for what it's worth, (random guy on TOMB) I can vouch for him. The ARP is incredible. We've been playing it a lot and recording it a little. Begging him not to sell it yet, but it's how he makes his living, trading stuff. Don't...

I had a similar experience but with a different pick. http://www.dandreapicks.com/picks/proplec.htm #320 small rounded teardrop version While kind of the opposite of the OP, I was always searching for that jazz guitar sound I liked and when an ES-175 and Gibson GA-50 were still not getting me all th...

I am curious about this. I recently acquired an old Boss Dr. Sample SP202 that pops almost every time at the beginning or end of samples, making looping unusable, even after truncating. Even when not looping and just playing the samples it pops half the time. I have friend who has a 202, 303, 404, a...

I bought a harmony like this one on ebay but I paid only around $125: http://cgi.ebay.com/Vintage-Harmony-Lap-Steel-Guitar-Gold-Cool_W0QQitemZ320471283231QQcmdZViewItemQQptZGuitar?hash=item4a9d93b61f I see these all the time on ebay. I have a boss Looper, while it does suck tone quite a bit, it doesn't stutter for me, works flawlessly. I've seen a bunch of people use it live with great results. But my guitar tone suffers with it. It's weird, like it's been through a buffer of sorts but a very terrible sounding one. B- I also hav...

There's a point in Stravinsky's Rite of Spring where he sustains a chord with all twelve tones in the chromatic scale, spread out on various instruments, across multiple octaves. The part goes: dwwwaaa dwwaaaaammmm bwwwwAAAAAAAAAGHHHHHH!!! That last one is the chord I'm taking about, I can't say fro...
