It looks like the crux of my issues have been because I haven't enabled Legacy support with the MIO software. And the folks at MH have been guiding me along (their customer service is fantastic!), pointing game in the direction of the appropriate software bundle. I'm seriously considering doing the ...

Thanks for the reply! Sometimes when I get some new toy, I'm dumbstruck by the myriad of options and configurations I can do with it. The 2882 is a definite case in point. When I was going through the quick setup guide, everything was going seamlessly until I hit this Monitor Controller snag. In lie...

MIO 2882 questions
I just picked up a used Metric Halo 2882+DSP box today. It's playing nice with my OS (10.7) and Logic is routing everything through it properly. However, for the life of me, I can't seem to get the Monitor Controller to kick in. No matter what I do, the dial in the UI is greyed out. The tutorial vid...

Tightspot - Old song remix
This is a song that my old band recorded in late-Summer of 2009 that went out on our first self-released album. I was never too fond of that mix, so I took a swing at beefing it up a bit. It kind of has that Pop-Rock/Weezer thing going for it. https://soundcloud.com/jhcore/tightspot-new-eq3 By the w...

CAPI VP26 stepped vs variable gain
I've been playing around with these VP26s for makeup gain after the Folcrom. However, one of the units has stepped gain, the other variable. I notice that the gain level knob is twisted significantly more clockwise on the variable gain pre than the stepped to arrive at the same input level in the DA...

Apogee Duet into a Saffire?
I have an opportunity to pick up a Duet (firewire version, apparently) for an incredibly reasonable price. I want to know if I can bridge it with a Saffire Pro 40. I'd like to use the Duet for monitoring, and definitely for the 2 extra inputs when tracking. At the end of the day, is this a worthwhil...

I just hopped on the 500 series train with a 6 slot Lindell lunchbox and a couple of CAPI VP26s that I bought already assembled for incredibly reasonable (well under $400 each) prices. I coudn't be happier with the pres and the lunchbox. The Lindell was cheaper (a factor that drives many of my purch...

Thanks for your reply, Corey! Actually, since last posting, I did a bit more research and figured out that I needed to configure MixControl to have my outputs "greyed" (100% signal to the pres), thereby bypassing any hardware (Saffire) volume control. And I can monitor the summed channel in Logic by...

I hope I'm not making your hard drive choice headache any worse, but I've been using the 500gb OWC Mercury Elite since 2009 with absolutely no issues. Actually, it's a friend of mine's drive who has loaned it to me indefinitely; he also has it partitioned into 8 or so chunks, and has used it for bot...

I think I finally have the routing through the Saffire/MixControl software down. it was a matter of configuring the outs so that the hardware volume didn't affect the output levels. In any event, here's (again) the work in progress. And I'm leaning toward the FiveFish SC-1s for overall tonal flavor ...

Saffire/MixControl/Folcrom questions
I initially posted this in Listen to my stuff, so I apologize in advance for the cross-post. But I'm having a hell of a time figuring this out. I just recently got my hands on the Folcrom summing buss, and have been playing around with it using some long-dormant mixes I have laying around. But I use...

Yay! Folcrom success(??)
I just recently got my hands on the Folcrom summing buss, and have been playing around with it using some long-dormant mixes I have laying around. But I use Logic 9 with a Saffire 40, and the damnfangled Saffire Mix Control software has me all whacked out in terms n routing, playback, and monitoring...
