the N72 are the ones i use least, but they are good for toms with their dial-able grit. Do the N72s have output attenuation to dial that grit against? I ask because the A12 has no control of output-vs-input which kinda bummed me out. As the owner of some other Neve clones I realize how key that dia...

Slightly off-topic I gotta say it's really awesome and inspiring to see how having a rack 'o' 7th-circle pres can enhance the choices one makes in mic'ing a kit! I just got started in that world myself this year (only one A12 right now) and your post really gets me all fired up to build some more!

Yeah dynamics are not the usual choice with their grit and girth, but they are totally under-chosen for some of those tasks where people normally reach for the sparkly sound like overheads AND acoustic guitar and I say fuckin' go for it. Another good dynamic choice might also be an SM7B. They have a...

I think the one thing that's not been said is a STRENGTH of recording yourself...in spite of all the weaknesses...is that one is often much more relaxed without that other person in the room, and therefore willing to do as many takes as-necessary to get a part right. As opposed to "that's good enoug...

BUMP!!! Okay, post-session now...nothing but coolness at my first Sharkbite session which was also my first time freelancing as an engineer outside my own home studio. Adam was most helpful in showing me the ropes and basically "making me" do all the patching, running of cables, console knob twiddli...

Hey Gang, A friend of mine in the wine marketing industry up here where I live is looking for a professional to do a recording of a bunch of wine geeks sitting around a table talking about wine. QUICKLY! The event is this Friday the 30th. She's been given a quote by a local (the only local) audio-vi...

I have a date scheduled with Adam at Sharkbite in early December (first time working with them) that I was already looking forward to so this is great to hear. Found Adam and Ryan through this board following a posting I did looking for someone to service some repeat clients of mine while my own stu...

Dude, how did you know I was such a huge Tad Donelley fan? (Know what I'm sayin'?) Dude, who isn't these days? He's a Mutt Lang. He's got a couple of hits out there. He's feelin' good. I get much more joy from Tad Donnelley than I do from Mutt Lange. From what I hear so does Shania, but if you only...

It's ok to sound thin and nasally, just ask Neil Young.
No it ain't. Just ask Billy Corgan.
I just swallow a SM-58 and sing into my gullet.
I just swallow some Monster Energy Drink and sing into my mullet.
