I'm going :) after having to miss the last two TOC's. :(
(Well, buying a house, having a kid and opening a new studio are good excuses, no? ;) )

Is Frankie and Johnny's still there? Love that place...

Scary, telling, and a little disgusting.

I, myself (or plenty of people like me) are probably far more qualified for that position, and I don't have even a bachelor's degree. Phooey.

Theres no facts to that story ..no names, no details. In this day and age, no one seems to mind. What passes for 'journalism' is pathetic sometimes. Add to that the complete lack of distinction between editorial writing and journalistic reporting, add a dash of truth-by-consensus (Wikipidia, as coo...

The example in this vid using a Chet Baker recording, says (scarily) differently... around 11 minutes in.

Re: Britney Spears

Isn't that kind of what happened with Milli Vanilli? The demo singers were real singers and the other guys couldn't sing so you just release the demo singers with the other guys faces? Pretty much. That Britney Spears Sound... http://jam.canoe.ca/Music/Artists/S/Spears_Britney/2008/03/21/5068996-su...

I've got 2001's (I think) in the home office/"mastering room" (too late to go check now.) Had 'em since '89 or so. They are a known reference for me, and even though their bottom end is a little lacking, I can use them for serious decisions if need be. But that's 'cause I know them so well, I assume...

CDBaby, as far as I know, make their MP3-download ZIP out of scans from the submitted hard-copy. Although they do take front-cover scans upon special arrangement (just email 'em). So maybe they're taking the whole thing now. But, last I knew, the MP3s they sell they encode themselves.

Hm. My PT M-Powered system (M-Powered 7.4/Firewire 410/dual-core Mac Mini) is no less stable than anything else I use. Rarely gives me any grief (unless I try to change the external clocking for the 410 - but I can't blame that on PT.) Does it happen with a particular plug-in? Start with a deliberat...

Unbalancing a roller on a tape machine? Like, adjusting the height? That would surely cause transport/tape path problems - and possibly uneven head wear and/or tape damage. Unbalancing as in making it out-of-round would add wow or flutter. So, until that site comes back up and I can read more, I'm w...

I'm interested, too, about the CD-face issue. I'm currently thinking of omitting the CD face from the included art altogether for an upcoming release... (for the download version, that is.)

I don't know how they're doing it, but what's baking noodles is that one can not only change pitch of individual notes in a chord, one can move timing, too.

As long as the files are data , you're okay. CD-R or DVD-/+R - all good. Just not audio CD-R. Audio CDs have poor error-correction. Data discs have good error correction. (Ever wonder why a CD-R can hold 80 minutes (44.1/16 audio is about 10 MB/minute) of audio , but only 700-some-odd MB of data? Wh...
