Re: Recording Trends/Techniques that drive you nuts

Mmmm - Genesis/Phil Collins solo I'll see your Phil Collins drum sound, and raise with Bowie "Let's Dance", then Power Station "Some Like It Hot". Genesis (starting with And Then There Were 3 *, '78) and PC ('81) are late 70's, early 80's. Bowie ('83) and Power Station ('85) are a cuppla years afte...

Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....

Thinking about doing the Jeff Tweedy rubber bridge thing with it but will likely live with it a bit first. I hated that sound at first, but the more I got used to the new record the more I enjoyed the distinct, tiny little guitar sound. It's like a less intrusive version of turning a piano into a t...

Re: List your Bandcamp page

Our fake band (Texturions) 14th entry in the "RPM Challenge" for 2021, now on bandcamp: https://texturions.bandcamp.com/album/charlatan-2 I can only take credit/blame for tracks 2 and 5, between isolation and an aggravating job, I wasn't in a "write and play 4 songs in a month" mood. I might've done...

Was this a DIY from the magazine? Or are they for sale somewhere?

Re: I tried to make a Perpetual Melody Machine

I messed with the Youtube "playback speed" feature a little while listening (I wish that had an option to change pitch accordingly...).
Nice work!

Re: Rock n' Roll Inventions (documentary)

In the grunge daze, Gary Numan was kinda a punchline, along with mebbe Thos. Dolby. But when he re-invented/expanded with Reznor, I became a big fan. His last 3-4 records are terrific. Then I went back and got I, Assassin , the one with Pino - respect. (That one made me go and get Paul Young ...) A...

That looks like good fun. I'm going to see if I can get it through DirecTV.
Yeah, I signed up for CBS to binge the latest Star Trek: Discovery. This one is through the "Smithsonian Channel", whatever that is. Hopefully you can find it free somewhere. Saw about 3 or 4 episodes last night.

Rock n' Roll Inventions (documentary)

Watching this one on CBS All Access at the moment, pretty good. (they got Gary Numan, so I'm a little biased).

What does going through a DI into your interface buy you, vs. straight in?

Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....

I don't like Behringer's business model, nor welcome calls from Sweetwater sales, but they're selling pedals for $19 and free shipping at the moment. Ordered a Super Fuzz, if it is ever in stock, and sounds close enough, I'll have a reason to sell my Univox.

Recording The Beatles book - fyi

I still haven't read this one (bought 10 or 11 years ago), noticed the crazy prices they are selling for ($500-700?). I've read nothing but praise for it, maybe I should read, sell, and wait for a budget reissue/reprint?
