Shit came back. Three doctor visits later and I'm now on Cipro drops right into the ear canal and some really expensive oral antibiotics as well. I'm working anyway. No mixing with my ears like this, but I've been doing regular tracking sessions with the volume really low. Sucks pretty bad. Hoping a...

anybody had Labrynthitis? It is an inner ear virus that causes dizziness and vertigo. I just got a new electric last week and can't stand up to play it and even if I could it would hurt my ears like hell. have you noticed any other side effects? perhaps.... 80's hair? http://i126.photobucket.com/al...

severe ear infections... both ears too!
Why do these things always happen at the worst possible time? My ears hurt and sound like they are underwater. I can't work at all. Canceled a bunch of sessions. People are pissed. So frustrating. Music sounds even more annoying than it normally does. I'll be so happy when I can hear again. I'm pray...

Lou Reed's 'Transformer' re-issue from a couple/few years back sounds like this. Really open - tight and crisp guitars and cymbals in particular - good in-your-face vocals. This CD would be perfect for providing an example of proper dynamics to someone raised on a diet of the last ten years of pop ...

Make a copy of the vocal, delay it 20-40 ms, autotune it aggressively with the pitch center offset +5, blend under the lead vocal. When I need a realistic fake double, this is my favorite way to get it. If I want something really effected I use the usual H3000 or modulated delay. Nothing sounds lik...

Those of you who are getting both snare bottom and a little kick, how does that track play out in the mix. How do you compress/eq. Do you end up pushing it towards more snare, or bring up the lows for kick sound? Or do you just compress a touch and let it do what it's doing? From Mix Magazine. http...

Nice purchase! The 441 is my all around favorite under snare mic. If there's a good U87 around I'll put it really low facing the general direction of the kick beater (from the high hat side) and catch some snare with it too. Makes for a great sound even all on it's own. There are some interesting so...

I've already mixed a 2nd track which was way harder than the first.
I think I might drag these home computer speakers over to the studio today. I'm sure I'll hate them once I get them over there, but it's worth a shot.

Just mixed a record on my ancient home PC.
Thought I'd share this experience as I found it interesting. Lately I've been getting more unattended mixing work. People send their files over and I go to work on it all alone at the studio emailing MP3's for reference. Well the other day I received a track from a band that sounds quite a bit like ...

My copies are all older cd's and they still sound amazing. Visconti could do no wrong at this time. I'm going to have to hear this new remaster. I recenty picked up the Pogues Rum Sodomy remaster and it was unlistenable. The original was thin, but this new one was downright painful in the top end. O...
