Ditto on the SSL Quad compressor! What an absolutely musical device. Alot more so than the Alan Smart knockoff. A real time saver too for indie records. I miss the 10:1 setting ont the J-Series boards though. Don't know why they went to 20:1 on that.

Actually, between 1:1 and 1.5:1 is really cool. Just crush whatever you put into it. Use it for containment when you have a really active, uptempo song where articulation can make the groove feel sluggish.

For that amount of money, sounds like you'd be a 'Soundblaster' candidate. I wouldn't recommend them though. Save and get the Aardvark Q10 for around $799. Well worth it. One of the smartest units out there. Visit their website www.aardvarkaudio.com for more information.
