4GB of RAM will be fine for right now. PT9 still isn't 64-bit so it's not going to use anything above that anyway. We run a Mac-Pro 8-CORE with 4GB of RAM and an HD|3 Accel rig. Never even thought about the RAM.

It's hard to beat a pair of Neve 1073's or the A Designs Pacifica. Both are fantastic for pretty much anything you throw at them, including drum OH's.

If it's in absolute mint condition with the proper top panel that shows the schematic, $1k is a reasonable price. I think I paid $800 for my mint condition one but they have gone up in value a bit over the years.

I've got an M-Audio Keystation Pro 88 and have been a piano player for almost 20 years now. It might not feel ultra-realistic but I sure haven't had any issues playing it. Grabbed a sustain pedal and hooked it right up. Works perfectly and is inexpensive.
