Re: Looking for physical TapeOp magazines

Hi there, I have probably 15 years worth in a couple of boxes, all in great shape. I’m in the middle of cleaning/organizing, so I’ll take this as a sign to let some stuff go. As I type this, I’m reconsidering, which means I should definitely let them go! Is there any issues with shipping to Canada? ...

Re: Monitor dilemma

So, update. I pulled the credit card out for the Kali LP-6. Ordered through MF, added the gold coverage, which I rarely do, and that actually brought the price down to $283 for the pair, with 3 year extended warranty! Thanks for the input, I wasn’t even aware of these speakers, so I’m glad I posted ...

Re: Monitor dilemma

Appreciate your opinions. I’m thinking Recycled Brains is on the right track for my thinking. I don’t want to hate yet a third set of speakers, no matter how revealing they may be. Has anyone been in front of the Presonus Sceptre, or possibly the Eris? I believe the Eris received a pretty good write...

Monitor dilemma

I have a pair of M-audio bx5, the original model with the movable tweeter, (whack), and I have a pair of Behringer 2031 passive w/Adcom power amp. The 2 different models sound very different from one another, which may be a good thing? My room is small, 11 x 9 and is pretty well treated with a cloud...

Re: Mixing template in Reaper

Thanks for the reply. I’ll be getting back to mixing in a couple of days, and will try putting my tracks at unity to see where the bus levels end up. My main question i guess is, does it matter where and what the routing amounts to, as long as the master track levels are good? And yes, I’m actually ...

Mixing template in Reaper

Hello everyone, I have recently recorded a project, and I made the plunge into Reaper for the tracking and mixing. Goodbye Ableton Live 5. No track grouping, inaccurate pdc, etc. I wish I hadn’t waited so long. Reaper-good. So, to the point. I am starting the mix, and have busses set up for drums, r...

Re: Too much equipment. Trim down?

This so applies, I just had to dredge this up. The second posters name was Randy, as is mine, so, setting here drinking beer in my 20x30x18 studio, complete with all the eccentric craziness i’m surrounded by from staying in one spot too long, it just hit home. I spend more time thinking about my inv...

Actually, just re read the spec sheet on their page, and it lists that pop filter for bass drum.
Case closed.

Beyer m88 on kick / pop filter

I recently picked up the m88 wanting to try on kick, but then became leery after reading about possible damage to the capsule. So, I ordered the Beyer ps88 pop shield and it only covers the top half of the capsule. I realized the shape by looking at the picture, and while it is more dense than a reg...

Re: Weathervane overhead

Luckily this year is almost over..... I did just order a MCU pro from Alto sound / b stock. Christmas present to me / from me. The Coles will just have to wait until I learn Reaper and get the hell out of Ableton 5! One day I will actually pay those fine developers their $60.. Thanks for all the inp...

Re: Weathervane overhead

Brian McTear was asked about hard panning, and he said that he only goes out to like 40% each side. It is more about the center mic holding the kick and snare in the middle, while the left and right are added in for some detail.
