Re: Wanna mix some pro tools sessions?
I'd be interested as well. 2 songs for $250, but you only pay if you like them or use them in some fashion.

Re: Syncing up drum machine with digi001
I hate to stereotype, too, but I quit doing anything rap related unless the referral comes from someone I really trust for the reasons you mentioned. Seems like for all the talk (or rapppin') about 'respect', there sure seems to be very little of it going around in those circles. Now that's not to s...

Re: Syncing up drum machine with digi001
There shouldn't be any drift, as MBC is just pulses that keep the device synced. When I said there was no positional information, what I was referring to was the fact that the syncing device will start wherever it's transport is at. For example - if I have Pro Tools at bar 1, beat 1, but the drum ma...

Re: best input for powerbook
You should check out the MOTU 828 or 828mkII.
What software do you want to run?
There's a few other options, but I have been using the 828's and have been very happy with their performance and sound quality.

Re: Mics for Girls
If you haven't checked out the SE Electronics mics, you should. They were a BIG surprise for me. We did a mic shootout a while back to try to find a suitable mic for a vocalist I work with - about 50 mics, including 414, 4033, 4050, MC30, SM7, RE50, Schoeps, Microtech Gefell, Neumann (103, 184), Gro...

Re: that glassy pop vocal sound
Here's a couple; 1. Whisper the vocal and put a nice 'verb on it, then mix it into the background 2. Double the vox, compress the hell out of it, eq all the lows out and mix that behind the original 3. Granular synthesize a copy and mix that behind the original 4. Vocode a copy of the original with ...

Re: blue sky system one?
I've been using the Blue Sky 2.1 system for quite awhile - I also have the Mackie 824's and use ADAM P11's often. I really like the Blue Skys and have no problems translating mixes. I think alot of it is making sure that the levels are balanced properly (there are controls on the back of all the spe...

Re: Need recommendations for RTR for mixdown...
Ah - I see what you mean about transport issues! I thought you were just referring to it not being 'perfect' as in sometimes you press 'stop' and it takes a few seconds for it to actually stop or maybe it's a bit quirky when pressing play or something. I DEFINITELY do not want any of the problems yo...

Re: protools+reason+live+etc bundle
Reason is missing several synths/samplers (maelstrom, NNXT) and several effects, as well as support for multiple outs in standalone mode, not to mention several editing functions. Live is missing alot of tracks, VST effects, several editing functions and midi remote capability. The full list of miss...

Re: Need recommendations for RTR for mixdown...
I guess I should mention that it IS only for mixdown, so transport 'issues' are not necessarily of much concern. I may use it now and again to run some drum tracks out to so I can 'push' it a little bit and fatten up the sound (please don't beat me silly for using that word - it's the only that desc...

Re: Who does video here?
Do you need to fit a camera into that budget? If so, here's what I would recommend: 1. Final Cut Express ($299) 2. Any Canon ZR series camera ($300-$700 both new and used). We did some decent stuff with a ZR45 and I thought it looked better than alot of more expensive Sony's (DCR-PC series). Stick w...

Need recommendations for RTR for mixdown...
It's been ages since I've done any analog tape recording and I'm seriously considering purchasing an analog reel to reel deck for my final mixes. I would like to have some informed commentary and recommendations on the best deck to get for my purposes. I've done a little research so far and I *think...

What about Karlette? Not as good, but close...
That MDA dub delay is also quite nice, as is Ohmboyz (www.ohmforce.com).
