Re: a PC for a Mac guy

$500 would be overkill unless you use it as a workstation. I recomend that you purchase either fxteleport or, if you have a mostly analog studio, you rewire your signal chain to let you bus stuff to the pc on the fly, and get a live effects host. There are so many useful pc plugs for cheap/free, th...

Re: a PC for a Mac guy

Hola. I'm going to be upgrading my wheezing G4 for a newer Mac in a few months. In the meantime, I'm currently thinking about purchasing a cheap PC for the net, cd burning (which I don't have at the moment), and I'm thinking about getting an old copy of Cool Edit Pro or something, to juat have a se...

I don't agree with the getting a 'backup' college degree approach. This is such a difficult field to get into that anything that distracts you from it, particularly something as extensive as a 4 year degree, will most likely derail you completely. That said, I have seen nothing of value come for 'vo...

To be frank, I don't subscribe to the pop-recording 'soft synths always sound like ass' philosophy. This is could be a lot of things. - Are you mixing down in 16 bit, or 24? - What soft synths are we talking about? - Are you mixing in Live, or are you rendering out and using something else? - What h...

Is that the right one? There's one on ebay right now, for the ironically perfect price of $35. I'm considering getting it, but it doesn't seem to make sense unless I can find someone who knows how to do the mods, or at least what they are so I can DIY. It's a fucking DJ MIXER. Did they make big DJ ...

What's your point? Or do you have one?

There's enough ridiculousness in this thread without us joining in, UT. If TO wasn't the most reliable place to discuss this kind of thing, I'd move to another board.

Still - there's a really nice scene in tne movie "Rainman" where Dustin Hoffman finally learns to say "Kmart sucks." Kind of the same thing here... Sir, your skepticism is well founded. However, there does seem to be a growing body of glowing experiences with, and good recomendations for this box. ...

BTW I'm going to grab that plugin when it comes out, and hock my RSEQ if the plugin sounds as good... I could use three grand. I sure as hell didn't pay three grand for it when I bought it... - The plug in is certainly not out of beta yet, I wouldn't hold your horses - IMO it doesn't even qualify a...

hmmm... what should I get - a 7 band fixed Q unbalanced stereo eq made by a company that never put more than $200 parts & labor into any of their products - or a Class A discrete fully parametric eq made with loving care by one of the top audio processor designers of our day? Yeah - you're right - ...

Please - if anyone actually purchases one of these "legendary" RSEQ units for over $1000 (let alone $3500!) please contact me immediately. I hear you. There's no way that it's worth $3500 (or that any peice of gear could be, IMHO). But people are going to pay what they are going to pay. What would ...

if you click on the "Realistic" logo it acts like the "open" switch on the Blockfish compressor plug and reveals all sorts of extra parameters to tweak which address the possible mods. Ok. While I can't deny that it's a sweet sounding plug, I've barely the frame of reference to decently compare it ...
