Re: "Pop style has stopped happening"...
i agree with some of this as well, but creating artifical rules about options seems pretty dopey to me. right now i am going through something similar - i need more time and space than i need gear these days. While it would be great to have a multi-pattern mic, tube pre, upgrade puter sw, and all s...

Thanks Meriphew. Yeah, I had checked that out, but unfortunately I was too late to pick up any of the Toshiba (Hitachi?) Repeater product research/launch era cfcs starting with the batch serial number referenced.ANd then the product line was dropped and the forum kind of died. BUT... In case anybody...

"Pop style has stopped happening"...
A quote from liner notes in a Gary Numan album (late nineties reissue of The Pleasure Principle), taken from an article in the technology magazine Wired: "Pop style has stopped happening. Style used to be, in part, a record of the technological limitations of the media of each period. The sound of t...

late seventies, Van Halen's first tour, playing at nearby small auditorium. (Marin Civic) Sold out. Guy comes into p.e. class says he's got an extra ticket he wants to get rid of. I ask how much, knowing they were selling for 12. He wants 20. I don't budge. I've regretted ever since. (Oh, okay, Def ...

electrix repeater:cfc cards: which?
Feels like beating a dead horse,but...Has anyone found a cfc that works reliably with these things? Do the "high performance" ones make a difference?Tried an Sandisk(?) Ultra and had to return it. Will a standard one with a higher capacity work any better?. CFC too slow messages mean lost takes. It'...

How to get balanced signals into unbalanced gear?
Trying to get balanced gear to play nice with an electrix repeater. Is there some converter box or adaptor for this? I've got a balanced patchbay, and I dont' want to have to route through a mixer if possible. Is it worth trying to get someone to convert the repeater to balanced I/O? Thanks.
