Too bad you're not using a rich housewife's computer. You wouldn't need to buy anything else except a cheap miniDV camcorder which you could always use to make more "home" movies with better quality.

I noticed that my SDC doesn't have very deep bass response - not even deep enough for male vocals. However, the capsule's shape and the tiny diaphram (spelling?) seems to really make my acoustic guitar sound like what a recording of an acoustic guitar should sound like - without any eq or compressio...

DP3 may be the way to go. I use it on my G4 tower (400 mHz - one of the first models) and it may act sluggish when I'm mixing surround sound with a video track, but other than that it runs great. And I've installed DP3 on a G3 iBook and it worked great with no tweaking whatsoever. I'm leery of OS 10...
