guitar tuner bushings - thread?

Hi all, Does anyone know the thread size on standard bushings for closed guitar tuners? The one I measured looks like 5/16-34tpi, which is so weird it's surely wrong (I hope). I'm going to need a bunch, and it'd be much cheaper to make my own - trying to figure out if I can find a die or if I'll hav...

Putting a pickup on a cello isn't so easy. At the very end of the fingerboard would probably make most sense, but a bass pickup likely won't work well - the curvature is very different. I've got a David Gage pickup mounted on top of the soundpost (inside the instrument) on my cheap cello. Probably h...

Yeah, that disc by the nut on the end is a neodymium ring-shaped magnet.

Drone: not too much more to see! It's a standard bolt with a couple 1" fender washers held in place by nuts. Before winding it I coated the bolt/washers/nuts in wax, to avoid scraping/snagging the magnet wire. There's a neodymium ring magnet right next to that bottom bolt. My wax melter, as it is, i...

My first successful DIY pickup (don't laugh, ubertar!)
Wound it on a 1/4-20 bolt on the drill press, potted it with candle wax. Seems to work OK. Going to be building some instruments and this is for one of them.

Where will y'all go? None of the other recording boards have the same cleverness...groupdiy is nice, but different focus.

Use an adblocker to get rid of that popup.

i've built several hackintoshes. used one for years before the processor failed. it's easy to do if you're reasonably computer-savvy and they work fine. keep a backup, as always, and do your research on hardware compatibility before building. the tonymacx86 site had the easiest ways to do it, last i...

can't hurt to check the power in the amp section! in my (limited) experience the output transistors are the next most frequent thing to go on amps like that, so if you have a way to check the signal right before them that might be the second thing to try

If all you need is an fixed attenuator in front of your power amp & you know how to solder you're looking at a few cents worth of resistors, a handful of connectors, and a box to put it in. If you need switching & lots of options maybe it makes sense to spend some money, but this isn't a complicated...

Easy things to check: - voltage across the big filter cap with your voltmeter to see if the power supply is working - bias voltages on the bases of the transistors, to see if something obviously screwy's going on If you've got a scope it shouldn't be too hard to trace the signal through and see wher...

most modern audio equipment should have fairly low impedance outputs (under a couple hundred ohms), and audio frequencies are relatively low. so, i wouldn't worry about impedance & capacitance for 20'. a few hundred, maybe.

like magnetic services said, shielding and durability are bigger concerns.
