http://recforums.prosoundweb.com/index.php/mv/msg/14324/0/0/0/ That was a good read, at least page one and page 14. Funny how such smart talented people can argue so hard about this subject. Pixeltarian is running an Mbox and a Midi Controller. If it is a Mbox 2 Pro there is Word Clock in. But agai...

You don't really need a word clock, at least w/ an Mbox. The 003 at least have WC in / out, if I'm remembering right. So a WC could make sense there. If you are using outboard converters then maybe. If I were you I'd spend my money on really good mics and really good preamps. They will be a bigger d...

I'm going to pick up the solo 610 and give it a test drive. I'm mainly looking for a bass DI but I'll see how it sounds on bass and with a few mics too.

I've heard really great things, again and again, about the Avalon U5 DI. So I may try to get my hands on a U5 too.

UA Solo 610 what can ya tell me about it?

I'm looking at a UA Solo 610 Mic Pre / Direct box. I was also considering the U5 Direct box. It's nice having a mic pre in the 610.

I'm really in love with my Great River MP-2MH. Great direct sounds and a great mic pre.

So I'm wondering what experience or thoughts others have had.

Try a different firewire cable too. It could be that simple but I'm guessing it is a computer / hardware issue.

I have a B that I bought off ebay. It worked for a few minutes then would quit. I replaced all the capacitors and it works fine now. Looks just like the B in the picture.

I just wonder how do you crimp the metal cap back into place? Or will it always be loosey goosey?

DOD makes a pre-amp pedal, Ywang Malmsteen brand. I does exactly what you are talking about, boost only. It does add a bit of high end but that can be changed. Just ignore the Ywang brand name.

I have 3 of them and that is why I have them. For under $40 you cant go wrong.

I've been really happy with going direct through a Great River MP2M. Gets a nice fat sound. I like the Hamptone tube pre too but I like the GR just a bit more.

The GR is a great pre in general too.

Since you are running Altiverb 6 and I had the same problem with Altiverb 6, why don't you uninstall AV 6 and see if the problem goes away. If it does go away try Altiverb 5. I only got weired delays on bounce to disc with AV 5. If it is AV 6 it would be good to know that is what is causing your pro...

I've had that with my HD system with Altiverb 5 and when I went to Altiverb 6. With AV 5 it was always during bounce to disc. I don't know what the fix is.

Perhaps reinstalling PT and plugs might be the fix?

Call Acutronics and figure out which one you want. You can buy from them direct or there is Ampwares.

I use Mouser but their search engine sucks. Looking at the PDF catalog will help but it is time consuming. Start looking by brand. The values you are looking for are a bit odd and may be hard to find.

I just ordered a 1,000 from overnight prints. It will be nice to have some actual studio / music cards and not my other non music related bussines cards. They have some nice basic artwork and it was easy to design a card.

Jackpot is still here in PDX. They just moved into a new building with Scott Hampton. I think Larry is now living the jet-setter lifestyle and has become a sunbird, he goes back and forth.
