...It gets me that "lubricated goat" kind of tone. ... In the late 80s (87, 88, 89??? I don't quite remember). I went to see Lubricated Goat at O'Kay's Korral (in Madison WI). There were about 20 of us there that night. 4 of the audience members were members of Soundgarden who were playing there th...

I'm gonna make the case for room treatment again. This is stuff you will be able to take from whereever you are working now and move it to whereever you are working in the future. Go to a lumberyard that supplies materials to roofing contractors (gotta be a big place, not just the local Home Depot o...

Are you ONLY working on the four track? Are you working on your MAC as a DAW? If you are only working on four track then it makes sense to me to use the MAC as a recorder for your mixdown then you can edit the tracks and burn CDs. You might need to provide some more details of how you work to get th...

I think it's hard to judge quality based on location. If you can buy it from a store instead of online you'll be able to try it before you buy it. The only thing that struck me as odd when I was looking at info about this bass is that it is made with a "soft maple" body. What is that? I've never hea...

I'm not sure but you'll get lots of help asking at the Piano World forum. The spirit of that place reminds me a LOT of TapeOp. Very helpful knowledgeable people.

Buy a tape loop online and bring it to the store. Try it out. If sounds good and you can afford it, BUY IT. I don't think you'll regret it. I've had a Roland Chorus Echo 555 for over 15 years. It was velco'd to the bottom of a 16 space rack that was filled with shelves of vintage stop boxes and a Gr...

It's not very sexy but I just ordered my first patchbay.

2 Redco Dsub TT bays and all the snakes/cables I needed to properly wire up my rack/rig. Cost me a bit but should be well worth it.

For years I've played a Fender Vibrolux reverb. Volume set at around 4. It's got a pair of 6L6s in it (35 watts me thinks?) and 2x10s. Lightly picked - clear as a bell Hard strum - a bit of dirt MXR script dynacomp kicked in - clean sustain, dirt if hit hard TS808 instead? - singing sustaining lead ...

Frampton Comes Alive is the standard but I think any Head East LP will work just as well.

A friend of mine swears by Molly Hatchet but I've never noticed any improvement.

There is a 75 for sale on New York Craigslist. I saw it as of yesterday. Don't remember any more details other than the price seemed reasonable.

Of the mics I own? a pair of Lomo 19A19 because I love how the thing sounds.

Any mic at all? A pair of large badge U47s in perfect original condition, because mic hounds would come searching for them and rescue me from the island.
