Re: mastering, limiter, diy.
Just gonna take a couple of seconds to point out that... - MoreSpaceEcho post on here. - I believe that MoreSpaceEcho may just be in the "Mastering..." game. - Also seems like he was just mentioning SketchCassette a little while back. https://aberrantdsp.com/plugins/sketchcassette/ Might just be a s...

Re: unclean electricity?
No, it's an AEA RPQ2. Just got it last week. And here's the important thing: I can take that preamp out of the "bad" room entirely, and other units in the "bad" room still produce the "bad" sound. This leads me to believe that the sound was always there and I just wasn't turning up gain high enough...

Re: pres on Focusrite interfaces?
One aspect of the bigger picture that might be worth a mention... I believe Sytek might be out of business. From the looks of this thread, at least some of the folks in this thread might even know about it. https://messageboard.tapeop.com/viewtopic.php?t=89480 Probably worth accounting for that the ...

Re: I highly recommend REAPER
Just out of curiosity... What are the wrinkles/things that seem "Labyrinth..."? Well, there's a reason I'm not writing a review on the software for a magazine. I've been working on the same idiosyncratic platform for decades, and I'm trying to get "a feel" for the layout of another one by reading t...

Re: Overdrive pedals educate me
On the "Treble Booster..." front, The Balls Effects "Balls Deluxe" is one of the finest feedback generator pedals that I have owned. Will also get you a lot of "Classic Coke" treble booster sounds. Cannot say enough good things about that pedal. https://ballseffects.com/distortion/balls-deluxe/ Som...

Re: What was that piece of gear....?
Focusrite liquid channel? Just guessing. Are people still into that thing? I never tried it, and predicted it was flavor of the year, but that's unsubstantiated. If it's anything like the "Liquidmix" line, one of the issues was that software development just kinda fell by the wayside at one point. ...

Re: What was that piece of gear....?
What other gear can you think of that has been lost in the mists of time because plugins have made them irrelevant? Roger There were all those Alesis MODfx digital stomp boxes that were the bomb around here about 2004-2005. I seem to remember them having about a 6 month to 1 year trip from notoriet...

Re: I need help High Passing
Sometimes I hi-pass AND lo-pass electric guitars, trying to have it live in just the range it needs. And then I play it back the next day and sometimes it sounds like a jar full of insects. Oops. Hi-passing kick is something I started experimenting with in the last few years, after doing a recordin...

Re: The Tascam 388
Hi, Im from Southern California, & am looking for someone with a 388, or even something compatible. I recorded an album years ago & would like to do a digital transfer. If needed, for ease, I have an ADAT, Hard Drives, etc. Thanks! I came across The Tape Farm by way of it's YouTube channel. It look...
