Jeremy - my bays are 1/4" LF. But thanks for thinking about it. I bet you could easily unload those TT cables on the B/S/T board or eBay though.

VS-1880 w/ 2 VSF8-2 FX cards, CD Burner, Manuals

VS-1880, with 2 optional VSF8-2 FX cards installed, Roland CD burner (which has worked fine for me), and manuals. Pretty lightly used, because I got a lot more space and room for a lot more stuff and, of course, bought a crapload of other gear, to fill the space.... So, even though I'll miss the por...

$800 sounds a bit steep, but what the hell? Those were like $3000 at one time... $800 for the 1880 with 2 FX cards and CD burner seems right. The 1880s without the FX cards go for around $500 on eBay and the FX cards go for $125-150ish. If anyone is looking for that very setup - VS-1880, with 2 opt...

I figure it would work out to be what 1/2 price or something like that? 5$ a side per jack, ~1$/$1.50 per 3 feet, shippin'..that about 12$ a non assembled cable i think.. I think in your situation I might opt to DIY too.. how many do you need? I've made about ten patchcords with the one batch of ja...

Ambient-ish banjo and stuff...

My solo project, Magovista. "Relativity" - the first in a planned series of songs on the theme (loosely, at least) of quantum physics.... :? http://www.myspace.com/magovistamusic Yeah, sorry about having to go to myspace, but I enabled downloading so you don't have to deal with the stupid streaming ...

Six Organs of Admittance / Ben Chasny

I've been totally digging Ben Chasny's stuff latele, namely "School of the Flower " by Six Organs of Admittance, and "August Born" which is him and Hiroyuki Usui, both of which were released on Drag City last year. I just saw that he's playing in at the Fernwood Lounge in Big Sur on Feb 11th. Man, w...

i'm pretty sure i read that she taped felt over the strings, as opposed to putting foam underneath. She says to use felt over the strings if using only a pick; foam under if using fingers or fingers sometimes, pick sometimes: "The way I mute the strings is by folding over a piece of felt muting (bu...

I started on 4-track cassette a long time ago, then 6-track cassette (Sansui) about 15 years ago, then sold it all and quit. Then about 5 years ago, got back into recording and bought a VS-1880. At the time, it seemed kind of cool, but I kind of sucked at getting many decent sounds recorded. Maybe i...

Source for longframe patch cables or jacks

Anyone know of a good source for longframe patch cables or longframe jacks for making cables? The few that I've found have been pretty expensive. I know that's par for the course, but hoping someone might have a line on something.

Thanks.

Thanks. Guess I should have checked out the Alesis site for stats on the AI-3 instead of a retailer's site! The AI-3 will do fine, it looks like.

If you play with your fingers, a piece of foam under the strings, just touching them, behind the bridge pickup helps. I have a thick piece of tape-backed weatherstripping foam on mine. If the bass has two pickups, use only the neck pickup.

Then learn how to play as well as Carole Kaye!

I can post a pic, but it'd be pretty unexciting. I was going to post about this somewhere on the Recording Techniques board anyway, so this is a good a place as any. I've been totally floored by what good, usable sounds I've been getting just by throwing up a large diaphragm condensor (U87 or Rode C...

Outboard AD/DA to pair with Digi001

Is there a reasonably priced (under $1000) 8-ch AD/DA lightpipe converter than will let me do A/D conversion to send 8 ADAT tracks into ProTools LE and D/A conversion to send 8 audio tracks to an outboard mixer, so that I can send a total of 16 analog audio tracks (8 from my 001 and 8 from the outbo...

Cat Power - The Greatest. Just got it today. It's uhhhh... the greatest. But seriously, it's cool. Old school and gorgeous. Recorded at Ardent in Memphis with Teenie Hodges (Al Green's guitarist and songwriting partner), Flick Hodges, Steve Potts and others. She's touring with them in a few weeks. W...
