Love this question.... I always pan to the drummers perspective when the tracks/mixing allow (I no longer record drums to be stereo friendly in my studio). When I hear audience perspective, it freaks me out and confuses me.

Stab in the dark, but since the Philips is not only a consumer-formatted deck (copy-protected burn) and probably requires a certain styleof blank (consumer 'music' blank or CDR-R) you may have trouble finding a compatible deck to finalize. I owned one of those Philips decks for a few days many years...
