Hi all, just a quick one to say that I bought a mic from Bing. I'm in the UK, and I bought a new model mic from him (Black body, white mouthpiece, phantom powered/transformer balanced). It's neat looking and well built, and sounds, well, distorted. i got mine with a spare mic element (it's a differe...

Beyer m160 on snare - noooooo!
DON'T put an m160 next to the snare. I don't care what Beyer say. I've blown one up doing this ( I was young ans stupid - and it sounded amazing for about 45 seconds ;-p ) If you must use it for snare, back it off a bit. GREAT overhead/electric guitar/whatever you like mic though. Take it easy, rega...

akg d12 - different versions?anything to watch out for?
Hi all, been looking at a few used D12 mics - what's the difference between the D12 and the d12E (or any other variants?). Are there any things to check for when buying? I know they're all old now, but it is an LD dynamic, after all - I imagine it should be fairly robust. Or not? Anyone? Cheers all ...

Hi all, Steven Massey's long awaited tape delay plugin is finally available,
check out http://www.masseyplugins.com/. I'm at work, so haven't tried it yet, but if it's as good as his other plugs it's gonna be great!

Thanks for the input guys. I always wondered if it should be three core speaker cable, especially if it's an extension to a splitter? Headphones are little speakers, after all. Mic cable is easy enoguh to sort out anyways. Thanks again - as always, Tapeop is the best recording forum anywhere, and yo...

What cable should headphone extensions be made from?
Hi all, not sure if this belongs in this forum or over in DIY, but i've just moved rooms and i know have a bit more space for my band to indulge in mini jam/songwriting sessions at home. I have plenty of pairs of headphones, and a few headphone amps, but I need to make some extensions for individual...

You can download and use EQIII, Dynamics III and the newer Mod delay plugin from digidesign, they should all run no problems on 6.1.They are MUCH better then the old eq and comps - and the old ones stay installed as well, you can mix and match as you like. Are you using a digi 001 by any chance? You...

To whomever mad ethe point about drummers being expected to keep good time without a click back in the day - you're quite right. Wonder how many of them practised with a metronome at some point though? This topic always make me think of the whole technique vs no technique thing, which gets me mad. p...

;-p I'd keep the 10, save the money and don't buy an 18 unless you have some supercool and rare old kit and you just found an 18 on it's own. IMO they sound great - but often have more low end than the kick (if you have the kick damped for example), and are harder to mic - the wavelenghts haven't ye...

Just to chip in - don't know for sure what gauge or brand of string nick drake played, but i'm sure it's not anything Phosphor Bronze - they are a newer formulation and brighter, try 80/20 strings, they don't last as long but they are sweeter and mellower in my opinion, sounds more like Nick Drake IM...
