steve shelley can have a 5 piece because he's steve shelley. also, as far as I'm concerned, Stewart Copeland can play on whatever he wants, 'cuz I feel he uses every texture at his disposal in a musically functional way. to, sa80, I'd say that, yes, taking away drums from a shitty drummer won't mak...

 man.... there are alot of funny and entertaining threads on the TOMB, but this might be my favorite so far. I haven't been around that long, and this one hits home for me in a personal way.... but it just makes me happy this community is around. :^: OK< MY RANT: I, as a drummer, HATE, HATE, H...

Yeah, I have never tried the mic pointed into the corner. I have always wanted to but just haven't gotten around to it. I talked about it in a thread about Summit TLA-50's a couple of weeks ago. That mic setup (with that limiter, of course) was always the source of the magic drum sound in my old st...

Actually my new favorite thing is a 4047 in the closet with the doors closed about 9 feet from where the drums sit. Just tried it on sunday and it worked amazingly well for adding fullness without the crazy cymbal wash. That's a cool idea. I'll have to try that sometime, maybe hard panned against t...

Re: HotShot, was it really intended to offend?
Looking at the letter again. I actually feel like, "it's a fun read! Keep up the good work." is the sarcastic part. Maybe that's just how I'm seeing it. I thought that at first, but the dude seems like he reads it cover to cover. Yeah, I know. But he seems to read it cover to cover as Geek Fantasy ...

Re: HotShot, was it really intended to offend?
The little smileys are corny, but they take the edge off. I've given in too. :P  :x    I keep on thinking about using this one: :oneeye: , except I don't know what emotion "old one eye" is supposed to express, except maybe something pertaining to my privates?!? Th...

Re: HotShot, was it really intended to offend?
it is very hard to convey emotion with words. I would go as far as to say, "It's very hard to convey emotion without emoticons" :D :) :P   :^: Really, though, I always made fun of emoticons in the past, but now that I've recently started on with this whole forum thing, I've fou...

I was going to avoid this thread because all I'd do is complain about how other drummers give the rest of us a bad name. then... I remembered hearing, somewhere (it was probably TapeOp, since that's the only magazine I actually read), about an early Neil Peart (I think) recording session where...

Yeah, I looked at the duet, as something to take with my laptop when I'm doing overdubs away from the studio... but, at home... I need 8 ins and outs for the most part. I multitrack track drums regularly. I also use my good ol' Tascam 388 for basics, then dump to Logic. Lastly, I like to do final mi...

Thanks. I'll give MOTU a call and see what they say. I was just assuming that they wouldn't want to bother with such an old piece, but they always were, at least when I used to call for tech support with DP, very helpful. I actually had a mkII as my second interface a number of years ago for a bit, ...

Weird. One side says B-ULS, the other side says TLII?!?! And yeah, my B-ULSs are black (dark gray) and silver. Where'd you get it? Sweetwater. I don't think there's anything significantly unique about this one. It apparently uses a c12 capsule, and as such, with it's transformerless-ness, seems to ...

The mic you show in the pics is a B-ULS. I thought that's what you wanted, no? I'm confused. :???: The mic I have is the TLII (transformerless). I know it says B-ULS on the back, but the one that AKG actually refers to, in it's title, as the c414 B-ULS is the one with a transformer. Usually dark gr...
