Garage/Psych/Jam Band indie rock out of Austin, TX

the newest release I worked on .... might be one of my favorite projects I've ever recorded, although I say that with almost every new one. But these guys write amazing songs and rip so hard on their instruments. I did my best to give them a production worthy of their abilities on their limited budg...

FS: Yamaha PM1000 2 channel preamp & EQ w/ upgrades

unfortunately I have to do a bit of selling off of gear in order to make some car and bill payments. And this includes my custom built Yamaha PM1000 rack. Both channels have upgraded transistors for lower noise, Recapped all Electrolytics and swapped tantalum for Wima Film caps, Wima film capacitors...

tuning pegs and guitars going out of tune

It may be more appropriate for me to ask this on a guitar forum but I like this message board and the people on it more so wanted to ask you guys.... what tuning pegs do you prefer? ..... especially in relation to having to swap out stock ones for your preference to help with staying in tune. For my...

what Reverbs are you using right now?

Want to get a peek behind the curtain and see what everyone else is up to currently. What reverbs, outboard or plugin, are you using right now? Any genre or instrument specific pieces you find yourself going back to? Ive been stuck on my kurzweil rumour's plate for vocals for a long time now. Only s...

mind f***ing the listener article

one of the very first tape op magazines I ever read had this article in it that is still stuck in my head and will never get out... and is one of the many reasons why I love the magazine so much and still read every new issue the day it comes in the mail. It was something to do with the process of m...

alternatives to Par-Metal?

so I need to order a 19W x 11D x 3.5H chassis with a black faceplate for a G9 tube preamp I'll be building. Unfortunately I ran into some issues with par-metal. First they were not responding at all, then responded with apologies for having issues with their email and order processing dept., then in...

Waves 1176 plugin + LA2A or the RComp has been my go to starting point for a modern rock/indie rock vocal sound on my mixes. I'd really love to build a Sta-Level clone to go along with a hairball 1176 clone I'll be building soon, would be awesome to have these together to try out the series compress...

I was fiddling around with learning some of these songs on guitar and realized that Bank Job is detuned oddly. It's not a half step down from standard but somewhere in between. I was wondering if this is something you did purposefully to better suit your voice or was this just a result from tuning b...

I haven't used a stepped drill bit although I've heard they are handy and get the job done even for larger holes such as xlr connectors. For this project I was fortunate to have access to equipment at my work and used a floor standing central machinery drill press for the front panel and IEC connect...
