Re: 421 repair info?

I always like to try the manufacture...Noboty loves you like Mother!
Unfortunatly, with German mics there is rarly a happy ending. Let us know, but In my expearense repair wil cost as much as a new mic; unless you got the mic on sale...Then repair will cost MORE.

Re: Studio Management Software

Yamaha offers one. It comes free with there new digital mixers. I have heard good things about it. But that's it...
Anyone use any of these, I'd like to hear some feedback.
A editor/librarian would be cool.

Re: Tom mic inside???

May is the name of the company that makes the internal mount systems. It looks like they have been bought out by or have a distribution deal with DW. They started out as a mounts only. Mostly for the EV ndym series. Then EV changed the mics around and the AKG D112 became the standard for kick. So, I...

YES! YES! YES!!,

Your Subject line says it ALL Blue Note WOW. It is one of the most popular ones. But I use to lay this one on people who say, "OH, I don't like Jazz".
Miles Davis "Kind of Blue" Wait, that's not on Blue Note.

Re: Difference between Shure 545 and the Sm57

The 545 was indeed a predecessor of the SM 57, and it was in the lineup until recently. It was available with a dark finish as well. I thought the ?dual impedance? was internally selected with a sort of jumper. Having a look at the link in this thread; It says it is selected using the cable as a bra...

Re: Tape Echo's...

I have both a 501 and a 505. The 505 was to make a cosmetically matches set with other rack mount units in a series that came out in about 1980. It didn't last too long. I think the high price was the reason, they were all expensive. I think it included a Bass Preamp, a gtr. Pre and the "Dimension D...

Re: Sonic difference between passive & active D.I.s?

I will tell you one of my experiences. I was working with a Cuban Son band. They had 4 sources they DIed. They were really concerned about the DI I would be using. They asked about it with each call. They insisted they would be better off going direct than micing. Now I have a decent mic cabinet and...

Re: what is the story/history with the Joe Meek gear?

Hay Alan, Can you please save some of those ?Old? Meeks for me? I for one, would be much more interested in trying some of that line (the ones that I have not) than the ?New? stuff. I?ve used the ?MeekQ? and want 1 or 2. It would be interesting to run one of these against any new design you are like...

Ted,
THANKS so much for joining us here. Your comments seem to stick to a real discussion in the spirit of this forum.

So Ted, what?s up? Are you shipping gear now? We would love to hear what you have going on. I hope this old bitter business has not kept you down.

Re: Snare Rattle Problem

I am, by no means a ?Tape the drums" kinda guy (that's tape as in adhesive, not magnetic). But, this is one of the only times I would suggest that. About a 1? X 2? piece of duct tape - just on the snares. Some would say that is sacrilege, but it has definitely saved the day for me a few times. Steve

Re: Valley People Dynamite Manual?

The manual is available free on line. Sorry, I do not have the exact link. Goggle Galaxy (Sp?) or hot spot, as in the monitor. They bought out Valley and moved the whole company to Kansas. They have several manuals, The Dynamite among them. Model number lists it. I think the Dynamite is #430. I'm no...

Meek That old thread makes an interesting reed in hindsight. It looks as though some of the messages have been deleted, as they don?t really flow. Nestle, Vaporware is when there is such a delay in a product arriving in the marketplace that it exists only in printed material or prototype stage. The ...

Re: Recording "fiddle" in a live setting.

Pick ups work for me - even in a quiet room overdub situation. The last time I did it It sounded so good I talked with the player about it. She said she had a Barcus Berry PU an older style. She said they called her about 10 years after she had it. And wanted to BUY IT Back! They contacted her from ...

Re: Decca/ORTF using stereo mics

Yes I have done Decca tree type set ups with a stereo mic in the mid. At that poind it's kind of like a center stereo mic with spaced suport mic. That's another technique used in Clasical recording in a real concert hall. Decca with a Stereo center.... Stereo Mic with "outrigger" suport mic, only sp...
