Gotta love those Beatles
Well I agree with alot of the sentiments everyone has shared but after listening to Mystery tour again this morning with head phones on I am always blown away at the tonal combinations and in particular the bass - it feels like its DI into my brain.

Good luck with the Blue Tube. Ours blowed big time. Opened a brand new one and the gain dial is totally offset on one channel and nearly non functional on the other. I gave it back to band mate to return. I am sure it is a manufacturing issue. The mp20 we used was much much more solid and works like...

Alternative to FMR RNC compressor
Hello- I am interested in getting an additional compressor to compliment my fmr rnc for drums and bass. I would like any recommendations on NEW currently available units that are in a similar price range (sub 1000 anyway) that would do the trick. I record mainly DI with bass chain is GR ME-1nv or Ch...

what about fireface
I have fireface 800 and always wondered if I should be using the 800 firewire port.
For now the cost of an appropriate cable is prohibitive. But I have never had any problem with the 400FW line running all 8 analog AD/DA
anyone use these?

ion isn't too bad
I used to have the first run of as IOn and more recent micron. the ION was much more user friendly despite some of the lack of features. i suggest a newer ion as the early ones had majour OS bugs. I finally gave my micron away to 6 year old for a toy and i bought a nord lead 2x. but i still miss my ...

I really like the fireface 800. RME is noticibly better than m-audio- at least to my damaged ear drums.

one more vote for AKG
I second that recommendation. From my experience prtty much any higher end AKG will be great investment. If you do tracking with headphones on you will really like the akg k 171s. They have very little bleed - however I warn you after 4 hours of non-stop overdubbing your head will be bleeding from t...

Thanks for the responses. Makes me wish I didn't throw away my old physics books.... or actually I am so glad that I did. I have always been curious of the patchbay device- I should do some more investgating here on that topic.

Tracking question (split signal output)
I am a one-man band singer/songwriter and also like to record my own stuff mainly just for fun. Mostly Alt. Rock stuff in the style of New Order Joy Division. I currently track my vocals and most instruments via Shure SM5b or AT4033CL into RNP/RNC and then into Fireface 800 and into Logic. I like to...

been there
I used to live in a high rise apartment deal where I had neighbors on all sides and up and down. So I used the card box (a large flat box ) propped up by couch seat cushions with a radioshack small condenser into VLZ and on to MD 4 track. I thought it worked much better than expected and didn't both...

This is my first post and firstly i want to thank all who are here and have provided a wealth of tips and opinions that have been most helpful. I have had a few 4-track cassette units and loved the yamaha the best feature being the 4 individual outputs so you can transfer easily to a computer if you...
