don't be so willing to eat up everyone else's shit. :D I understand that you're trying to have the good attitude that everyone tells you you're supposed to have, taking the blame for everything and all that. BUT, fuck blame anyway. The fact of the matter is you're in a situation that's unacceptable...

to set your rate you might consider your peers locally/regionally/nationally, how your work compares to theirs and your experience level respectively... and what other rates bands are paying in your area. Considering some area's peers, that could be an issue. I happened to be looking at one guys my...

No one is worth more than someone else in the field is willing to work for.

How many bartenders are willing to start working for free?

People grow up "dreaming" to be an audio engineer. I don't think anyone dreams of being a cellphone salesman..

I think compression is evil. Not in an ignorant sense that it is bad in every case just because some people overuse it, but because it sounds better temporarily. It tricks you - in the long run it makes the recording more fatiguing and less interesting. If I take an L2 and turn it to -9, I can't say...

Re: How do I deal with deaf producers and musicians?

If you can't hear him, because he insists upon listening at VERY LOUD volumes, that's his fault, not yours. As the engineer in charge of that session, I take anything that doesn't go right as my fault. But it's kind of weird recording someone who works for your boss who technically is your boss. I ...

I work as an intern at a studio now where I see this happen on occasion. To be honest, sometimes it's me. I don't use my cellphone. There are some sessions there I don't care to sit on, because as arrogant as it sounds I don't feel I have something to learn from some of the engineers there. Some bro...

I am an intern right now at a studio after graduating one of those audio schools. Not the kind that costs $40K/year.. less than 20% of that. The one thing that irks me is that you can graduate one of these places and be a total sod who learned nothing. 75% of my class didn't care about this, what th...

How do I deal with deaf producers and musicians?

I am an intern at a cheap studio until I get more experience. Since I work my ass off for 75 hours a week, they let me do sessions now by myself. I do sessions with the producer that works in house there because the other engineers show distaste for his lack of ability to learn a song or play an ins...
