I have a old D12 (not 112) and some vintage 421's (gray). I've been using the D12 - but now want to add some more point to my sound. Would anyone use BOTH or (one-or-the-other). I have both a D12e and an RE20. The RE20 came first, and was very cool for kick, until I got the D12. The 20 gets little ...

Re: 16-Channel Mixer Shopping

I'm looking at mixers right now and I need 16 channels for my 2 Alesis LX-20 ADATs. I'm tranferring that to my computer for editing using a Sapphire Pro 26, then I'll be mixing down to 1/4 inch tape. I was looking at Mackie's 1604 or 1640, but neither of them have outs for all 16 channels. That mad...

check atsacoustics.com too. I think I paid less than that for their bulk mineral wool.

That sounds like a complete headache! It was simple as pie on my iMac with Leopard. The download took longer than that actual install. I agree completely the metering on the channels is a huge improvement. Yep, total nut-buster. Compounded by the download time too  That said, the channel mete...

I did it too recently, but on Win XP and it was pretty much a huge headache. It's documented now on the DUC as well, but if you have a 002R and you go to PTLE8, open it once before you patch it. then go to CS2, and then to CS3. Or there is a reg fix available. Otherwise you get these lovely excepti...

Re: MIXER TROUBLE

It looks as though its been converted from an AC supply to DC at some point. Underneath the new mount it says 110|240v 50|60hz so, presumable this spec translates to the current conversion? The 110|240V 50|60Hz designator means that the board was designed to run on 110 or 240 Volts AC, and is proba...

I did something similar with tool hooks, (not painted / plastic coated, some kind of foam that appears to be non-reactive a couple years later)...I've got a lot of unfinished pine Ikea shelving in the control room...they vertical boards are pre-drilled for adjusting the shelf height; these holes fit...

ribbons typically can take massive SPLs (some spec in excess of 160dBA), but they don't like wind gusts, which will tear them pretty quickly...no warning, just, poof! gone. Manufacturers want to cover their asses, so their warning sheets tend to make ribbons sound more fragile than they actually are...

Also, all I/O on db25s. Useful to folks entrenched in DA88 wiring (I really hope it's wired to that standard), I just ain't one of 'em. actually the DB25 thing has made a big comeback as of late. Redco and few others offer TRS and bantam patchbays that terminate in DB25 on the rear. Great for small...

this thing is a big fist full of meh to me. At $300 I wouldn't be interested in that feature set taking up space in my room. Nothing to say about quality / sonics / whateverthefuck else...just that it's a piece of gear that does nothing to address my workflow. Also, all I/O on db25s. Useful to folks...

$30 down the drain. that sucks, but it could have been worse i guess. now im a little shady about trying to get another one!! Not totally $30 down the drain...the four cans on the left are the most interesting thing about these units. They're the input transformers for the mic ins, and I'll go as f...

honestly, for $1000 you could get a used MOTU 24 i/o and have 24 ins and outs. If that's more than you'd ever need (or will never mix outside the box) you could pick up a couple of MOTU 2408 mkii or mk3's and a PCI-424 card. I think the MOTU stuff is pretty great in it's price range. This would pro...

there also exist PCIe, PCMCIA, and express card variants of the host card, depending on your machine.
