I fed a -14dbfs 1k sine wave from PT into the teac. I turned up the line input pot until the VU meter read 0VU when set to SOURCE. I then fed the signal from the output of the teac into pro tools (with the input on the 002R set to -10) and turned up the output level pot until the pro tools input met...

no. I had patched into the compressor just to use the VU meters on it. It was in bypass. With the output pot at max on the teac the VU meter on teac is pinned but the input is -7 on the compressor VU and -24dbfs in PT. I'm going to try switching inputs 5-8 on the 002R to -10 and see what happens then.

I purchased a presonus digimax 96K some years ago to expand my PTLE. The pres were a vast improvement over those found in the 002R and it doubled my i/o. That being said, now I tend to use it only when I am live tracking more than 8 channels and then it handles things of lesser importance. That bein...

Teac A3340 + DAW
I have a Teac A3340 1/4" machine that I am trying to incorporate into use with my DAW (PTLE). I'm finding that I am getting a lot less level coming out of the tape machine then I get going in. Using a signal generator, I set the line input pots so that a +4dB reference level reads 0db on the VU mete...

Multitrack Question
I've been thinking a bit about multiple mic setups lately.
Does anyone know what the first recording to utilize individual drum mics is?
And, how about the first recording of a band with individual mics on everything and each mic hitting its own track of tape?

Troll the craigslist. I got my 70's ludwig kit for $120 and it's in amazing shape. I later found an early 80's ludwig kit with really large sizes for $200 that a friend ended up purchasing. Also worth mentioning, both of these sellers knew what they had on hand but wanted to give the right person a ...

I am now super confused about this. I cannot figure out a way at all to use plugins that induce delay on a stereo track or buss without the printed track having blank space at its beginning. If I nudge the tracks forward by the amount of plugin delay I end up with twice the blank space. If I nudge t...

its for a small clone chorus (tonepad pcb) the 2.2uF tantalum cap between pins 1 & 2 of the LFO IC (LM358). Originally I was going to use a 3position switch and toggle between 1.0, 2.2, and 6.8uF with the negative leads tied together. After ashcat brought up the popping I changed the plan to use a 3...

Ashcat: yes, I was wondering if it mattered if the + or - end was the switched one or not. popping won't matter for this application as the switching would be done in bypass mode, although i might just rethink it and use higher values in series to prevent the popping; and that would also defeat the ...

toggling capacitors: polarity?
Hello All I have a question about switching caps with a toggle. I've done this before, say with 2 caps and a SPDT. Wiring the switch's pole lug to one through hole on the pcb and then tied one leg of each cap together and wire that to the other through hole. The other legs of the caps each went to a...

Black Sperzel TrimLoks
I have a brand new set of black sperzel trimlok tuners. They are the 6 In-Line Type with Staggered Post Heights. I purchased them to put on my mustang but the headstock is too thick for the tuning posts with the lowest heights. I did cut the cardboard guide in order to mark the holes on my headstock...

Dissecting Gargeband Effect
Hello Garageband has an effect called "Helium" I would like to recreate this effect but without the use of garageband. Yes I realize I could import an audio file into garageband apply the effect and then fly it into whatever medium I am working in. However, I am interested in understanding what it i...
