I posted this in it's own thread, but seeing that it fits here, I'll repost it. A possible E-Bay "distaster" in the making? Probably not, but a misleading discription, maybe? I just bought a used Spirit m12 mixer on E-Bay and I received it on Friday. I've tried it on two sessions and it sounds fine ...

Soundcraft Spirit m12 on E-bay: messed up clipping light

I just bought a used Spirit m12 mixer on E-Bay and I received it on Friday. I've tried it on two sessions and it sounds fine (it's replacing an m8 and it doesn't sound any different from that). The problem is that the clipping light for channel 6 sometimes lights up even when the gain for that chann...

Re: Weezer "Pinkerton"

Who else loves the sound of this record? I'm curious about the distorted rhythm guitars...is it just LP-->Marshall or what? Yeah, I love this album much as well. I think it's the big drum and dirty bass sounds that I like the best. I remember reading an old Guitar World interview with Rivers where ...

Nice.
I bet that upstairs live room sounds great for drums.
Yeah, it does. Unfortunately the neighbors seem to like it a lot better when I track downstairs in the basement. I have to save it for the good bands!

Re: How much recording have you done?

Cool thread idea! Wow! 41,600 hours? 1995 - 1997: Using boombox to record guitar and vocals. Averaged maybe a half hour a week = 78 hours 1998 - 2000: DAW based recording of my own band using onboard soundcard and couple cheap mics. Probably averaged 3 hours a week = 468 hours 2001 - 2002: DAW based...

Re: Remember the bad studio name thread? Here's mine (Salem,

Since I was ten. I went to college in Corvallis and then tried to escape to Portland. But it was not to be.... I ended up getting a computer job with the state and stayed in Salem. It's not bad though.... I'm pretty used to it. Thanks for the startup tips! So far I don't hand over any mixes (rough o...

Re: Remember the bad studio name thread? Here's mine (Salem,

Yeah, isn't it amazing how much faster the time goes by when you're enjoying the project? One band I've done had a single weekend session that felt like a couple hours. Then there's another band where a couple hours feels like an entire weekend.... and now it's tax time and that's tons of happy fun!

Remember the bad studio name thread? Here's mine (Salem, OR)

Happy Fun Time Recording! - Salem, OR I've been lurking here for a while but haven't posted yet. Anyway... I did some on-location recording for a couple years (living the apartment life - couldn't track much there) until I bought a house last spring. Now I'm working on turning my basement into a ver...
