Powered monitors...upside down!?
I have some speaker stands that are just a little taller than I would like them to be. Accordingly: Do I have to keep the tweeter at ear level? I have HR-824s, and the sweet spot is pretty big, should I turn them on end, or does that not matter. I actually kind of like the off axis sound, its not so...

Re: what do you know about mono drum sounds?
I recently started doing death metal drums in a very condensed stereo, with great, powerful effect. Its amazing how much it can make the drums, guitars and bass seem like one instrument. This is a mono mix, with a big stereo room sound. Not so much the Morrisound thing.

Re: BEASTS in the studio!!!
I've got a bunch of garden gnomes in my studio. They clean up after my messy heavy metal clients. Maybe they could help you with the gecko.

Re: getting those vocals to sit in there
I have been getting some good results using a the Dominion plug-in from digitalfishphones in an aux send before or after reverb. An expander works pretty well too. It just seems to make it stand out for some stuff.
I second the distortion idea too!

WTB: MOTU 1224, 2408, 1296...
I need some MOTU hardware that has at least 8 ins and outs. I 'm really looking for a 1224, but if I can get a 2408 mk II/III or a 1296 for around $400 (haha, see boring compressor thread).
I don't need any PCI cards.
Thanks!

8 Channel boring compressor Presonus ACP88
Be the first person ever to be interested in my $400 (o.b.o.) compressor! It doesn't have any sonic character, and its really clean and stuff. In fact, its great for stuff where you don't want a vibe! And you know you don't want any vibe for your recordings! On a serious note: this compressor is in ...
