accidentally cool acoustic guitar sound...

so i'm sitting in my "studio" and recording some acoustic guitar. using an MXL 1006 large diaphragm and a washburn that's never really been very strong on the low end... i have the mic on a desk stand and my DAW in front of me. the guitar is on my lap, angled up towards the mic a bit, and the mic is...

M-Powered unpowered

just got m-powered installed. i can record tracks, i can play back multiple tracks, but i can't record and play back at the same time. when i drop it into record, the input signal cuts. the sound card can hear the mic, but protools will not. recording is fine if i'm not playing back other tracks at ...

so is it just the phrasing of suggesting something in that manner, or the idea of someone suggesting something in general that bothers you? I think you should reconsider this one... ;-)

Re: how far apart to place nearfield monitors?

Hi, I was wondering what is a good rule of thumb for calculating the distance apart my nearfield monitors are mounted? of course it depends on the room you're in, etc, but: straighten your arms and put them out straight in front of you. with elbows still straight move your hands apart until you're ...

sound company in southern NH?

i remember talking to someone here in the board's previous incarnation who worked with or co-owned a sound company in southern NH. i totally remember you, but i can't for the life of me remember your screen name to send you a PM. anyway, i may have need for some A/V services for a conference in Octo...

Is it really a good idea to perpetuate this "never contradict the engineer" business? Maybe I just have a problem with hierarchy in general, but I would never want to record in a studio where everyone was not free to express themselves (politely and/or humorously) whenever and on whatever subjects ...

wavelab is a full-featured wave editor. iTunes is a jukebox. it's not even apples and oranges--it's apples and bicycles. they are completely different programs.

as for CD burning, software such as Nero or CD Architect would be something to look in to.

glad you dig. no triton at all on this record. most samples are from vinyl. drum sounds sampled from vinyl and individual drums put into cells in battery. i ran the vox through the PSP Vintage Warmer to add some grit. i could've compressed more i think...

Re: Job Listings

Hey I was just wondering if the "Job Listings" section was going kaput and staying in the archives, or if maybe it might come back (if you can tell from my location I am currently looking for work!). -THANKS! and glad the board is back. try the 'hookups' forum :mrpink: hillary i thought that was th...

we need to create a php script that will parse new topics, search them for various keywords, tabulating a "score" of what the thread is most likely about based on the frequency of use of said keywords, and then placing the new topic into the appropriate thread. this is the worst idea ever, but i thi...

talking about pops and clicks on consonants, i'll assume what you've got is mouth noise. i recorded voice-overs and audio books for a good bit, and mouth noise is the absolute enemy of the audiobook editor. there's nothing to mask it as it's just voice, and mostly people are listening in headphones ...
