Re: Old Alesis Micro/Nano half-rack effects
the micro limiter is awesome. the best 15 bucks you'll ever spend on ebay. and they're stereo. trust me people will laugh till you plug it in. it's the most insane extreme compression you'll ever hear. try it on drums. room mics acoustic guitar and vocals. even if you use it on a send and return it ...

Re: Here's your new Fairchild
Hell, I'm waiting for the UAD-1 version in November. I think I'll save $32,851 that way. MPEDrummer pray it's better than the bomb factory fairchild plug-in. what a mess. sure none of us will be buying one for our home studio. but when you go to studio and hear a real fairchild 670. it's pretty dam...

Re: Has anyone had a good experience with anything Berhinger
i'm not that happy with my behringer stuff. i have a couple of those composer pro's. they need to see a really low level to work right. and the gates are really glitchy. i very rarely send a signal to em. but they're cheap! the headphone amp they make looks like a great deal though. and the new bala...

Re: Flaming Lips BGV question
it's kind of a leslie sound. but more electronic and way modulated.
i would think it's something like a mxr flanger doubler. where you can get a leslie type effect but make it kind of warped with the depth and speed controls. it could be any modulated delay effect. it's cool though.

http://www.beanpoleland.com/spent/index.php this is some funny stuff about a band getting signed to a major, only to go through hell making their album in a (major label way.) this was my first band. this was the bass players diary. if anyone has any cool recording diary links i would love to see th...

Re: How would you mic a dobro?
cgarges is right on the money! if the player is sitting and the guitar is flat (towards ceiling).right out front looking in slightly towards the bridge side. that's where that cool midrange stuff is. you can go a couple feet out if you have iso. or like bleed. i like a LDC like ksm44, 414, u47 or co...

Re: Why does this mastering job suck?
it's not bad. i woulda messed with the drums more in the mix. get the snare more aggressive (compression) but it's really good for live tascam to 2-track. i think you did a nice job.

Re: Here's your new Fairchild
these are awesome!! but the price is rediculous. we rented one for a record a long time ago (1991), and the engineer (jack joseph puig) ended up buying it for $14,000 dollars. he also bought the mellotron we rented for that record. it was the sh*t on drums and vocals though.
