I was just reading the Apex 210 literature and it says there's some kind of phantom safety dump built into the mic circuitry, but it's worded pretty vaguely. It says even so to still avoid phantom just in case. I thought that was interesting, I wonder if other ribbon mics do this too.

Another good trick for tight doubling is not to sing s' or hard consonants at the end of words when you sing the double. That way you don't hear multiple cutoffs.
